David Sharpe
I was having a problem with the 15amp fuse blowing that controls the RID on my 1150RT. I finally traced the cause to the plug for my Gerbings heated jacket. Push in the plug, pop the fuse. So I took the plug apart and noticed the two screw heads securing the ends of each wire had welded together. In addition to the fusing the plastic inside the plug had melted. I covered it all in shrink tubing and buttoned it back together. Before image: Link to comment
JayW
So does it now work? If not, maybe this would be covered by the Gerbing lifetime warranty on wiring. Might you have overloaded the plug at some point? Jay Link to comment
David Sharpe
Yes, the plug now works. I only use the plug on the bike. I beleive it may be that the terminals inside the plug warm up the plastic and over time the twisting and pulling on the plug to remove it from its socket helped melt down the internal plastic spacer.
