Rossi to F1?

My guess is probably not, but he just fished some F1 test rides at Montmelo (a "gift" from Ferrari)with surprisingly good results. Then again, seeing what he does with a bike, maybe not surprising.

Interesting read HERE

That'd be nice if Rossi moved to F1, they certainly need the "color" that Doctor would bring. But we hear this rumor every year, and it never pans out. It's just a tease!

Rossi to Ferrari would be the most exciting addition to F1 since Juan Pablo Montoya.

He's a true racer, he's Italian, and he has a personality.

Anything can happen in F1, who would have ever thought that Schumacher would return to the grid.

At Barcelona last week Rossi set some pretty impressive lap times. The very next day Massa tested in the same car.

Ferrari posted Rossi's times but not Massa's. Was that because Rossi was quicker than Massa. :/

If Massa is unable to regain the speed he had prior to Hungary '09, Ferrari will soon be looking for a replacement.

Count me in the hopeful camp. Two-wheeled racing seems to put more of a premium on youth than 4-wheel, and after this season, Rossi will probably have made just about every statement that can possibly made in MotoGP, so why not move on to fresh challenges. And, Ferrari must be drooling at the possibility of an Italian driver winning for them after a long drought. Imagine the communication improvement from being able to communicate with Italian engineers for car setup changes.

It would certainly be a win in the personality department for Ferrari. And F1 could certainly use some excitement, it has been become extremely boring. If he can spin the lap times, I'm sure the paycheck would be enticing for him.

Rossi on a Duc would be far more fun.....but F1 would be ok if he does decide to quit bikes. He could truly make his mark stand forever if he could win on the Duc.....

John Surtees made the transition and damn few others. There will be a learning curve, despite some good testing times, the race is a whole bunch different. Nothing Rossi couldn't learn, he is enormously talented.

After winning the GP crown again in 2010, Rossi goes to Ducati. Only signs a 1-year agreement.

Wins the 2011 MotoGP title.

2012 Formula One rookie of the year.

I'm sure it was because Rossi isn't going to be competing but Massa is. No point advertising any lap times you don't have to.

It would be good. Rossi however, in an interview with the BBC after the F1 tests, says he will have another year or two with MotoGP by which time he will be too old for F1, but he is hoping to have a couple of seasons as a competitive rally driver. In another report I read, he said the F1 rides were just for fun! I wish I had his connections...

Rossi's value to Ferrari would be huge, so any present contractual issues could be handled. I can't think of anyone who has a shot of competing that would make that big of a bang.

Fun to watch.

Mike Hailwood did it, too, but never won an F1 race. However, I don't think anybody's better than Rossi at racecraft. I think he'd hold up pretty well.

Unless the FIA approves a third car, I don't see Rossi making the move. Now, if that 3rd car is approved I can see him jumping at the opportunity.

You need to keep in mind his age as well.
