Tommie
I'm looking at a 06 k1200r. Having a hard time finding reviews on the bike. Do anyone here have one and want to share their experience both good and bad. I would be very helpful in making a final decision. Thanks Link to comment

Get a REMUS exhaust for it and take the baffle out - then run the snot outta her.! Makes sounds that should keep a BIG smile on your face for a long time.!! Link to comment
BalancePoint
I'm looking at a 06 k1200r. Having a hard time finding reviews on the bike. Do anyone here have one and want to share their experience both good and bad. I would be very helpful in making a final decision. Thanks I've got on 06 K1200R. I've owned it since July of last year, and ridden it about 6,000 miles in that span of time. I sold my last bike, an R100R that I'd had for a couple years and about 15,000 miles. So I can compare the two bikes and say something about the K12. My K12R came with bar risers and a Laser Hotcam exhaust. I added a Cee Bailey windscreen, the Euro shape 21"; BMW hard cases off eBay and a Corbin seat off eBay. You could say I took a little of the hooligan out of the bike to render more friendly for longer trips. Believe me when I tell you it still has some hooligan left. The seat upgrade is just about essential. My bike is pretty standard in that it has no ABS, has no ESA. Never had either so I don't miss it. I like the suspension and I don't think the front end feels "vague" like some have said in reviews, but truthfully I'm not a track-day kneedragging expert. When I push on the handlebar it drops right over into a turn and feels utterly confident and controlled. It's a great bike. When I changed my air filter, I noted that the air box had been upgraded. I don't have any stalling problems, but I do have the lean fueling rough patch up until 3000 RPMs. No big deal at all. It's an utterly civilized bike, just a nudge more eager (maybe a little more than a nudge) than my R1100R through 7000 RPMs or so. Past that, it's a whole 'nother thing. It's as fast and quick as you could possibly want. If you're in 6th gear at 80 mph you're showing 5000 RPM. Drop it into 5th and pin it, and you're past 100 MPH INSTANTLY and heading for 120 and beyond. It will get you tickets if you let it. The bike is as easy to ride as any big motorcycle could be, it just has all that incredible power and acceleration in reserve. It shifts very much like the R1100R, amazingly like it considering the entirely different gearbox and clutch. Once you get used to it, it isn't at all rough and I've never had any quirks or issues at all. If you don't use good technique it's rough, if you do it isn't. Test ride the thing. Do all the due diligence that I didn't do, and get it if it grabs you. It has an engine with character to spare, it has good ergos for my 6'2" frame, and it has it's own look that you can never decide whether it's goofy looking (headlights) or a thing of beauty ( the right side view of that wedge four) so that's a push. Whip
If I didn't ride two up so much, hANNAbONE would not own my K1200R Sport. I would. I think it is a great bike. Link to comment
