GS Uncrate and my first ride! (Guest Post)

My grandson asked me to post this, as he is not allowed to use the internet.

I've been looking for a new ride, something with a bit more speed and better handling. I've seen many of the riders in my area using machines with pedals, I figured it was about time to upgrade. I ended up finding a sweet deal on a GS that a dealer had leftover from a few models back. It was still in the crate! I had to have it. Soon it arrived, I had them put the crate in the living room. With my faithful companion Dixie at my side, I set about seeing how we would get the new bike out of the crate.

I couldn't lift it, so enlisted Grandpa's help.

It was mostly assembled, but Grandpa helped me with the handlebars. It even came with a special tool for the nut that held them on.

Grandpa said something about a manual, but I decided to see how the new ride handled.

Grandpa was mumbling something about first service at 600 miles but I was already riding.

I came around my first turn a little hot, and it took me by surprise. On my second turn I just did a little two finger braking well before the turn.

After a bit I hopped off to take a break. I'll tell you, it's a great bike, but the saddle leaves a lot to be desired, even with a diaper on. I'll be calling Russell Day Long for sure!

Grandpa sure thinks these boxer engines are sweet.

Yep, it's a real German machine.

Well, that's if for the first ride, I'm just going to park it hear next to my cage.

Excellent ride tale! Hope it's a few years before I'm buying bikes for my grandkids, but will do when I have the chance

Word of caution though...might get some grief from the board about ATGATT

Thanks for sharing!
