Firefight911
It's been a whirlwind month already! Back to work. Working out. Running like someone being chased by a bear. Dealing with my motorcycles "issues." Decided that I would make myself scarce for a few hours before we get pummeled with the incoming weather fronts that are calling for upwards of 10" of rain this week. It started with some light to medium rain last night but seemed to be holding its breath this morning. I pulled my gear from the fire truck, got changed and headed off to several shaking heads from work. They still don't get me and how I don't seem to notice it when it is either cold, rainy, warm, hot, sunny, cloudy, or otherwise. Today was an F800GS day! The goal was simple - ride home. The challenge was to do it the long way and get wet and dirty along the way. To sum it up, mission accomplished! And, as an added bonus, that nice feeling of having eaten a good meal and feeling completely satiated is back. Ahhhhh!!!! I didn't take many photos as it was definitely about the ride today but, I did take a few. Here's my SPOT ride track - LINKY Enjoy. I just love this time of year when it is brisk out, and has recently rained and the world is dormant for Winter. Shhh, it's quiet time. My companion for the day. No noise but the snick of a gear change, the growl of the exhaust, and the grin of my smile. Sometimes it's nice to look back from whence you came. Got to use my new tripod for the first time for this self portrait. If you notice, my suit is actually soaked . . .compliments of a couple really deep water crossings. I was laughing my head off in there during these!!! After enjoying my time off road, I rode up to the local gun club to check out what was going on. Several extremely nice folks were enjoying some trap. They were really good, shooting from the 27. Caught the powder flash on this one. Notice the shell ejecting? What a great day!! Finished up with a bit of corner carving into Placerville for some coffee. Afterward, home. 5 minutes after cleaning and lubing the chain, the skies opened up. Perfect!!!!! Thanks for coming along! Slyder_Steve
Umm, dude, what's that brown-looking-stuff on the front fender? Haven't seen that on any of your bikes before... Looks like you had a good time! The wet stuff you speak of in California!? You know the words, sing along with me..."it never rains in California..." Slyder Link to comment

Kathy R
It's funny how good a puddle can look, once you find out how much fun they are to ride through. Nice photos and tale! Link to comment

Firefight911
Suh-weet! Um, what are those bug-eye lookin' things on your helmet visor? I noticed that. Kind like my Elton John glasses or something. They're actually just the reflection off the stock visor. Link to comment
whyme
Is that 1st section Latrobe road? If so, you should show them some pictures of the two water crossings since we have been getting all this rain. Link to comment

The thimble of a water puddle in these pictures is nothing by comparison to the others!!!!! Link to comment
whyme
Let me know if you would like some company when you go back. I live right around the corner in Rancho Murieta. Not to tread jack this but I just replaced the brake lines and flushed the fluid on my 1150rt. I got the required knowledge/skills from the A & S Tech day. Thanks again for all of your efforts to put that on. Link to comment
AdventurePoser
Thanks for taking me along, Phil! I think you deserved a good ride! Cheers, Steve Link to comment
bakerzdosen
You've already proven to be quite resilient, so I'm not worried about you making it back from a ride like that. I am just amazed that your bike didn't have any issues. (OK, maybe I'm just jealous. South Dakota isn't exactly ideal for riding this time of year... Trust me, you'd notice the cold here this week.) Looks fun Phil. Link to comment
