moshe_levy
Hi All- Just bought a Canon HV30 videocam to record my new baby girl. Got done with the first HDV tape, and connected to the computer. Nothing. Cracked open the manual and it says you need video editing software to transfer the video from the camera to the computer. My goal here is to transfer the video such that I can burn it to a DVD. That's all - I just basically want to watch this video on my DVD player. Nothing fancier needed. Lowest cost and easiest to use preferred. I am almost totally computer illiterate. Any ideas what software package could help me? -MKL Link to comment

Windows: Windows Movie Maker (free) to transfer the video to your computer and edit it. The last time I checked (a couple of years ago), it didn't have the capability to burn DVD's directly from Movie Maker. But...if your computer has a DVD burner, chances are it came with DVD mastering software. Link to comment
John Ranalletta
There's a user review on Amazon here. It it, the user mentions that the cam doesn't come with xfer and editing s/w. S/he recommends this. Good luck. He also mentions using lots of tape to record and store vids. Link to comment
