BULLman
So, a light on my Ford Escape's dashboard would flash for the first 5 minutes every time I started my car. This was going on for about 3 weeks. I was afraid it was my battery or my alternator petering out (I've got 115k miles on the Escape and I need another year out it). S0....I take the car to Walmart to get the battery and charging system checked. They hook it up to a meter and after about 5 minutes a 2ft long reciept pops out with charts, graphs and pie charts that said my battery was good but one of my di-ods on my alternator was stuck open and I needed a new alternator. Thank goodness that Walmart doesn't sell alternators. I take it my mechanic (Haller's in New Port Richey) - and they attached his hand Snap-ON volt meter is was dead-on chargin at 14 volts. Don't need an alternato. He thought maybe one of resiterors was casuing the falshing light, but the light would stay on if the there was a problem with the alternator. $15 later I had my car back after he checked out all the connections and grounds and such. Turns out my radiator was low and was casuing the light (strange, since it never has overheated). So.. who would you go back to next time the Mechanic or the Technician? Link to comment
