99Roadster
Along with a number of other bikes including the S1000RR, it was being prepped at my local dealer for some bike show in New York and California. A few observations; - Apparently, not unlike the HP2 the oil filler is on the right side while the oil sight window remains on the left. - Handlebar mounting holes have a different pattern so the previous GPS mount will no longer fit and neither will any aftermarket handlebar risers which leads to the next point. - The brake and clutch lines have no slack for adding handlebar risers. Both lines would need to be replaced with longer lines. - The fluid reservoirs are not that bad looking in reality as the housings are smoke black but they both have quite a bit of movement. Since the switch gear was redesigned for the single turn signal switch the reservoirs had to change too. Looks like there would be plenty of room for a similar reservoir setup as on the previous RT but it would probably have cost more to create a new design. - From talking with the tech it's supposed to have the same valve adjustment interval as the previous hexhead. - The oil cooler surround looks a bit less obtrusive painted black and somewhat more integrated into the front-end and side panels. - The muffler flap doodad looks like a cable servo type setup for opening and closing the damper with two cables connected to a plastic housing indirectly clamped between the catalytic converter and muffler. - The 49l topcase was on the bike. It was painted black with a bit of metallic in it when viewed up close. You will now have a choice between the standard silver and black. Overall it seems to be a decent update but it won't be replacing my '07 anytime soon. Link to comment
RT Fan
I was considering trading my 2008 for a new 2010 but I have changed my mind. I do not like the cheap switch gear, urine jars on the handle bars, no CD player and the colors are terrible. I guess my 08 will be my last BMW. I am not interested in the up coming 6 cylinder or the new 1000RR crotch rocket. I'll just keep my old 08 Boxer. If anything new is in the horizon for me it could be a Moto Guzzi. Link to comment

pdes
I'm waiting to test the new Kawasaki 1400GTR. Looks like a good alternative. Link to comment

99Roadster
What were the colors it was painted how did it look It was the light mint green (whatever it's called). Not very attractive especially for a motorcycle. It's just not my color. In another color it would probably more attractive blending better with the oil cooler surround. The black topcase looked out of place but a silver one may not have looked much better. Link to comment
RT Fan
I'm waiting to test the new Kawasaki 1400GTR. Looks like a good alternative. I am also doing some research on the C14. I can add aftermarket heated seats and cruise control. The only thing I would miss would be the radio/CD player that I have on my RT. I can buy a aftermarket radio for the C14 but it would be like a Harley tractor radio (useless). I really do not need all the power but they have the heat problem solved now and a better windscreen and heated grips and traction control. Link to comment
