cathro2
Going to change oil on brother in law's 05' LT tomorrow. Beemer shop gave me 1) drain plug crush gasket, 1) small O-ring & 1) large O-ring. Not really sure where O-rings go. I'm use to 1150RT with no O-rings. Can some one tell me what I'll be doing? Thanks in Advance! Link to comment
JimD
The only gasket or Oring you need to change the oil on an LT is the large rubber oring. It fits in the cover plate that goes over the filter. You do not need to remove the drain plug as all of the oil will drain out when you remove the filter cover plate and then the filter. The other oring probably goes on the fill plug & that only needs to be replaced once in a while. In 50K on my LT I never removed the drain plug. Be sure to properly torque the bolts in the cover plate @ 9NM. Because of their size they are prone to snap the head off if they are over torqued many times. Jim Link to comment
