ExGMan
I'm working up a solo trip from Boston to Texas and back in March/April. My hope is to get to Perryton, Canyon and Galveston, TX, on to Pensacola, FL, then back to Boston via the Blue Ridge Parkway in NC and the most scenic roads North from there. I'd appreciate any suggestions regarding route, equipment, and warnings anyone might provide. Thanks - JG Link to comment
WestTX RT
I can help out w/ routes from the Panhandle down through the South Plains and on down. Do you have any specific places you want to see coming through? Canyon has a great museum you need to make some time for. It has great collections of ranching and Indian displays that are well worth allocating some time for. Link to comment
Mike05
BRR date & location posted today, entitled the "Blue Ridge Rendevous"; might consider stopping in on your way home. Hit the Dallas area & need a place to stay let us know. Safe trip. Link to comment
TEWKS
Hit the Dallas area & need a place to stay let us know. I'm pretty sure that Texas aint big enough for two Whips. Pat Link to comment
roadscholar
I always thought it'd be cool to hit all the Parkways in one trip. The Taconic, Skyline Dr./BRP, Cherohala, and Natchez-Trace. They're all more or less in the right direction. Link to comment
ElevenFifty
I've done the ATL to BOS run the last three summers to visit family. I would advise the Mass Pike west to the Taconic Pkwy. You then have lots of options and can cross the Hudson at Catskill, Kingston or Newburg. Taking 84 through Hartford would be faster but I hate riding through Hartford. Vector WSW to get well west of the metroplex. I would avoid any slab route that takes you near or through NYC/Philadelphia/Baltimore. Rural NY state, and PA are good riding, but once you hit Maryland and the Virginias, you are in Moto-heaven. If you want to ride the parkways, get west of the metroplex and head toward Gettysburg (always a good stop) ... from there it's easy to get to Skyline and BRP. Do you use a GPS? Do you have any 'must see-must-do' spots along the way? Link to comment
Highway41
I'd suggest a route going by Stamey's BBQ in Lexington, NC, Shealy's in Leesville, SC, Chicken Comer's in Phenix City, AL, the Pig Out BBQ in Natchez (highly recommend you run no yellow lights nor stand on your pegs in Natchez), and wind up at Cooper's BBQ in Llano, TX. Return same route. Bill Link to comment

Highway41
If you take the BRP and get near Madison, NC, Fuzzy's BBQ is also quite good. See ya at BRR. Bill Link to comment
