It's on! BRR V

It's that time of year; the mountains are calling, the battery tender is tired, the snow is gone and it's getting warm outside. That can only mean it's time for........

The Blue Ridge Rendezvous!

From 4/29-5/2 we are going back to NC this time around, only we're staying in Dillsboro this time around. We'll be staying here:

Holiday Inn Express and Suites

26 Hoover Robinson Road, Dillsboro, NC

(828) 631-1111‎

Room rates are $79.00 a night which comes to just about $87/per after the state gets theirs.

We are finalizing the details for the rooms and reservations and should have them ready for you to call in on Friday, January 8.

Please don't call before then!!!!!!!

Friday night, the 30th we are bringing back the brats. They will be cooked alongside the hotel in the picnic area and yours truly will be manning the grill.

Saturday night, Shawn is looking at doing a catered meal at the hotel or else we'll arrange a group dinner someplace in the area, maybe Sylva or close by.

Depending on the dinner selections, we'll be making the arrangements via PayPal as usual. I want to take the time to thank everyone who's helped us with this and prior events. Shawn and I can only do so much and Shannon and Kathy have been great assets to the team.

Looks like a great location!

It is! We've used that as a riding base, and it was an ideal central location to terrific riding.

Looks like a good weekend to be in NC!

I'm a bit confused on the hotel info. I assume its the one that we used a few times in the past. If so, its at the intersection of rts 23 and 74 with an address of 26 Rufus Robinson Rd. Google maps incorrectly shows it further east on Hoover Robinson Rd.

Great location at any rate.

It this true?

I'm going to miss this one. I just learned today that the Honda Hawk GT community is holding their spring rally the same weekend, in Pickett State Park in Tennessee, about 50 miles west of Williamsburg, KY.

Ok, here we go!

You can make reservations starting tomorrow. I have worked all the details out with the hotel.

The hotel is on Rufus Robinson Rd which is about 150yds long. Essentially, the hotel is at the corner of NC23/74 and US441. It is very easy to find, about 20 minutes west of the Maggie Valley in. You're gonna love it.

We're working on website to let folks update it and announce their arrivals.

Anyone interested in t-shirts for this go round or should we wait a while longer till we're established?

I just made my reservation. It was funny, the guy commented that folks in our group had an uncanny ability to recite our credit cards numbers quickly and accurately

Put me in that group...I even know the security code...it's that bad :dopeslap:

In. Now, the question is, do I take an extra 3 days of vacation and just stay on the road between the Branson Blitz the weekend before and BRR?

IN! Hotel reserved!

EB, it is always nice if you can combine two events on one trip, with a few days in between. Last year I did Torrey/BRR and it was great!

I just called the hotel and the guy (Chad) who answered doesn't know anything about any motorcycle gathering Apr 29-May2.

He shows no block of rooms set aside for any motorcyclists, or BRR or Blue Ridge Rendevous

All of the standard rooms are booked

He gave me a different room for the $79 rate, although it has a fridge and microwave in the room, where the standard rooms do not. (guess I'll have white wine this time!)

He took my CC # and I had to ask him for a Conf#, just to be safe.

Matt...maybe you might want to callback "during week day hours" to speak to the manager Katrina Evans to be sure we have a gathering at this place?? He said the hotel name is the Dillsboro Hotel and hasn't gone by the name we have since spring 2009. "Shawn" is the front desk manager and he won't be back until Sunday night.

Hi Kathy,

Seems odd; "Shawn" took my reservation earlier this afternoon, complete with confirmation # & a direct reference to the block of rooms set aside for the BRR.

Per Shawn, he's the guy who originally "blocked" rooms for the Rally. Left-hand right-hand stuff; I'm under the impression there's plenty of rooms available.

Nice n Easy Rider

Kathy, I called around 2-3 PM and had no trouble. They immediately knew who I was talking about. Did you call the telephone number (828-631-1111) on the OP? Because when you Google Holiday Inn Express-Dillsboro it pulls up hotels in Cherokee (don't ask me why). Just want to make sure you're staying with us and not with those rowdy old folks down at the casino.

Chad (who isn't aware of anything) said Shawn (the front desk manager) would be back Sunday night and I could call back then.

I then doublechecked the number and verfied it was the one Matt gave us, and I called back. I told Chad that there was an event at the hotel that weekend and I wanted to book a room. He gave me a nicer room for the same rate since "all those standard rooms are booked". When he said that I thought there was a block of rooms set aside, but maybe Chad just isn't aware of it. The bit about the hotel name change is weird though?

Just in case anyone else calls and get's Chad....these posts will confirm that "it's not you, it's Chad".

Hey! No politics!

Shawn, who is from Atlantic Beach, said the hotel lost the HI Express franchise a while back but expected to regain it in the near future. Regardless of the name, the location is great.

I apparently talked to the other guy when I called today, because he knew about the event. I asked if it would make it easier to take the information if I just gave him my Priority Club (Holiday Inn rewards) number, but he said the franchise hasn't become effective yet so they're not connected to the HIE system.

This was not a day for getting a warm and fuzzy feeling from making reservations. I called the new hotel for the Branson Blitz and they guy said "wait a minute, the computer has to boot up because our generators were off", then when he figured out I was with the BMW group, he said "oh I don't need the computer, I'll just write it on this paper here".

Why do I have the feeling I'll be sleeping on the floor two weekends in a row?

Well, I'm going to try to call tomorrow and see what happens. We are sooo IN it's not funny (or maybe it is, I don't know).

So many changes of management and/or ownership in the current economy, it's hard to count on effective management.
