KevinH
I watched a really great program last night on PBS. It's called "The Way We Get By". The story is based on the Bangoor Maine Airport. This airport is all flights incoming and outgoing for all our troops to Iraq and Afghanistan. Three elderly folks make it their point to meet all the troops... On call 24/7 for the past six years, three senior citizens have made history by greeting nearly one million U.S. troops at a tiny airport in Maine. Filled with unexpected turns, their uplifting and emotional journey demonstrates the meaning of community at a time when America needs it most. http://www.kpbs.org/news/2009/nov/11/maine-troop-greeters-boost-morale-american-gis/ http://documentaries.about.com/b/2009/11/10/the-way-we-get-by-on-pbs-for-veterans-day.htm This story rates right up there with "Taking Chance" - try to catch it. I hope it gets allot of airplay. It's a moving message to America that we are not doing enough to support our troops. Link to comment
