frenchwv
I'm in the market for some new tires for my RT. 95% of my riding is on the slab. I'd like the longest lasting tires I can get. Any advice on which tires and where I can order them? Link to comment
Heyfrank
At 95% slab I would suggest metzeler me880. I like www.ridedirect.com for some tires. My local honda dealer has good prices for the metzelers. I ride quite a bit 2up on the rt. and when I mentioned to my wife about getting a higher mileage tire verses more grip tire she said thats a no brainer, go with the better grip. good luck with your choice. Any advice on which tires and where I can order them? On long trips I've run two sets of ME880's on our RT. They last a long long time. (9-10k mi. 2-up amd loaded) They are TERRIBLE in the rain if you corner at anything above posted speeds. Pirelli Diablo Strada's are my favorite. Google Coupon codes + motorcycle superstore. I Got $20 off $100 w/ free shipping, placed two orders, got a set for less than $200 delivered. FWIW, Thinking about trying a set of the Shinko Ravens when my current supply is gone. Link to comment

I Got $20 off $100 w/ free shipping, placed two orders, got a set for less than $200 delivered. Just checked... Apparently, Motorcycle Superstore is no longer offering coupon codes. They still have good prices though. edit: And they're running a tire sale right now! Link to comment

frenchwv
Thanks. I've never ordered tires before for the RT. I'm going with the ME880. What size have you put on your RT for the front and rear? Link to comment
frenchwv
Is 170/60 for the rear and 120/70 for the front appropriate? Link to comment
effexer1
I've on my second set of ME880's, and got about 12,000 miles on the first set, mostly one-up. And I find they are great in the rain. And let me tell you, I've ridden in the rain!!! Link to comment

moshe_levy
French - just use stock sizes, same as the tires you have now. -MKL Link to comment
frenchwv
Thanks everyone. I'm going to give the Metzler M880s a try. I got 11,000 out of my Michelen Pilots. I'm hoping to get a little extra out of the Metzlers. Link to comment
Moto-Moto
I just put a Metz Roadtec Z6 Sport Touring on the rear, forced into it as I had a blowout and limped to the BMW dealership. I will be changing my front tire in the next month or so and need to know if I have to go with the same Z6 or can I put and Me880 on the front? Also, when you order a tire online, where do you have it installed to ensure it is balanced? BTW, I had Metz ME880 on the rear and the ride on the Z6 feels better, more grip, etc. Link to comment
frenchwv
You can get a much better price when you order online, but some dealerships will not take your tires and mount them. The story I got from the local dealer here is that there is some "liability" concerns if they use your tires versus ordering themselves. It's the same tire, but whatever. Link to comment
