ACsRT Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 I just did my 1st 6000 Mile Service I notice that the Fuel Lines and the RHS spark plug wire are resting on the telelever swing arm where it pivots. Is this normal? Thanks Andy
Global_Rider Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 On my R1150 GS Adventure, the crossover fuel line was resting on the A arm as well, or at least very close to it. I placed a 2" long piece of 3/16" x 1 1/4" closed cell foam (doesn't absorb water) on the A arm to prevent chaffing.
GaryIF Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 The same was the case on my '03 RT. Don't know if two bikes count as normal but, until someone replies to the contrary, seems like there's a pattern. I suspected mine was the result of a sloppy mechanic who did the complete brake system bleed (have to remove the fuel tank) and neglected to resecure the fuel lines away from the swing-arm pivot. Perhaps not. I corrected the situation by securing the fuel lines to a plastic clip already installed on the fuel tank, just above that pivot. Easily done with one of a biker's most valuable service items -- plastic wire strap.
ACsRT Posted September 17, 2005 Author Posted September 17, 2005 Thanks: I added some teflon tape to the A-Arm to stop any chafing. Couldn't find anything to tie them up to other than other wires/cables. Andy
