lawnchairboy Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I hear that I-10 is a mess through Louisiana these days...any firsthand intelligence on this out there? Where does the trouble start/end? Saw a trucker site blog stating there was a partial shutdown due to a natural gas rig fire or some such thing recently... TIA, chris
Matts_12GS Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Chris, I don't know much about that, but the long bridge on I-12 had some construction around it when I was there in Feb.
ericfoerster Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 It is just like most major roads. Traffic is fast and they don't care about bikes. Construction is all over, including Texas. My city is on I-10 about 30 miles from the border. If I needed to get somewhere I'd ride it. If I were in no hurry I find another way. I've ridden it many times and had no trouble at all.
jacksonwr Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I went through there east bound about a month ago with no issues. The road in Beaumont TX was under construction at that time and was a mess. Randy
realshelby Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 As stated there is some construction around Beaumont ( Just west of LA border) and some in the Channelview area ( Just east of Houston). Occasionally some delays but not bad. Went from Houston to Hammond La recently, and I spend some time on I-10 off and on so I know it well. I would have to say that the Louisiana part is better than the Texas part. Make sure you take I-12 around New Orleans!
