anyone get this?

it seems to arise when leaving a stop (not briskly) and if the rpm's are low-ish (<2.5k rpm). if i keep the rpms >2.5k, the problems doesn't seem to arise too often, but, it does seem like it's still on the brink of occuring.

my gs, although it does have a shorter final drive ratio, never did this and the clutch did perform more linearly.

i don't much miles on the bike (less than 200 mile city driving) and am waiting a bit to see if the clutch just needs some bedding in. i also have a call into the dealership.

called the dealer and they said to bring the bike down. they did comment that some of the police RT's were doing this too and required clutch replacement. dropping the bike off tomorrow morning. will keep you all posted.

Had a new one at our dealership like this [Woodson BMW - Fort Wayne, Indiana], we replaced the clutch plate before it was sold as a demo. It did this from the very first ride...plate had a defect...covered under warranty and yours should be also. Good luck.

Two hours ago I would have answered 'no,' but I just spent an hour out at the slow patterns and by the time I was done I was getting a strong clutch chatter when accelerating out of tight turns. This is on an '08 RT-P with 4,500 miles. I'll give it a few days to go away on its own... otherwise its back to the dealer.

... i was supposed to go the dealership this morning, but, coming home from work last night, the chatter/shudder disappeared. this morning leaving the neigborhood heading towards the dealership, no evidence of chatter. tried to get it to surface. no luck. called the dealership, told them i'll hold off until it resurfaces.

will keep you posted.

My 2009 RT showed the same symptom as you describe ... it is my third new R1200RT so I knew that it was not as it should be

By 600 miles it was much improved and now at 2000 miles it appears to have disappeared completely

I suspect it was some oil or something on the clutch plate that has now burned off?

the shudder resurfaced mildly last night. it's gotten better but i've made an appt for tomorrow morning to get the bike inspected and the problem documented.

i had this problem also on my subaru. the clutch and flywheel were replaced under warranty. it, unlike the bmw, did not improve over time or miles. it was a flawed design.

will keep posted...
