Does a rear shock from a R1150RT fit a R1100RT?

My 99 RT has about 77K on my shocks. They are starting to feel a little bouncy lately.

Saw a rear shock for sale for a r1150rt with about 40K for a good price.

Just wondering if a rear shock for a R1150RT would fit in my 99 R1100RT.

No, the bottom shock mount on the swing arm is different between 1100 and 1150.

I had a VX800 (1993 model), that was a neat bike. V twin, shaft drive and not a cruiser, a great UJM.

Thanks for the info on the shock. Now I need to figure out a shock replacement plan.

The VX800 was a great bike. So many good memories...

I sold it to a friend at work (at the very favorable "friend price") who doesn't take care of it and it pains me to see it every time I park next to it. I want to steal it back but two bikes are too much.

You must be my long lost twin as we share the same interest in cars too. I have '00 9-3 SE.

Nice to see another Saab fan, especially this day in age when there is not much good news coming from them.

I bought my VX new in 1995 (it was a black '93 with 6 miles on it). Traded it for a '96 BMW R850R a year later. I wanted a new Beemer before I turned 30 and couldn't keep two bikes either, otherwise the VX would have been a keeper.

Per the conventional wisdom, not only are your shocks way past being toast, but the 40K mile shock you were looking at is already toast. The conventional wisdom on RT shocks is that they're significantly degraded by 30,000 miles, and weren't all that good to start with. But of course the aftermarket shocks require some serious coin.

I have a set from a 99r1100rt with 30 k on them, they look new and rode fine. I removed them this spring to put a set of lowered Hagon shocks.

Others will tell you they are trash but they worked fine as far as I was concerned, I don't wail the bike but I'm not afraid to flip it through a few twisties every now and again.

If you are interested in them for short money, let me know.
