ESA adjustment issue.

SO...

I recently upgraded from the stock ESA Shocks to ESA shocks that were built by works performance.

Installation was a breeze with instructions and advice found on this board.

My issue at the moment is that I cannot adjust the spring preload its currently stuck on two Helmets (2H).

The damping adjustment cycles through (comfort, Norma,l and sport) options as expected but not the preload. Engine on, Bike is in neutral. Connections are snug. As instructed, I hold the ESA button down but the 2H don't budge.

is there a reset of some sort?

any help appreciated...

I have read and reread the instructions in the manual.

I did not have to perform any type of additional process during the installation of my WP shocks; just plugged them in and the control switch adjustments were identical to stock. One thing you might try is running through the adjustments while the bike is on the center stand as opposed to sitting on the bike. I know it's grabbing at straws, but I find the system functions better if I set the pre load prior to loading 2-up. Good luck.

Has anybody ever heard of or experienced an ESA system failure?

Perhaps a blown fuse?

I am grabbing at straws here...

not what you want to hear - but you may just end up having to wait till the morning to call WP. There are a few threads on ESA setting and one recent thread was about someone who *thought* he had a failure - but not sure it turned out to be so.

To half-way answer your question, there have been a few failures - but I don't recall the symptoms. sorry.

good luck! Let us know how it turns out.

When that happened to my stock ESA system the dealer said it had lost calibration and he recalibrated it and it has worked since.

Bump... with an update.

Had my appointment with the service dept. at FW BMW Yesterday (Sat.)

ZFE was reprogrammed. ESA display no longer stuck... ( )

I spent the better part of today riding about, still trying the new shocks on for size... been so long since I've been on the bike...

Hello Angel,

I'm considering replacing my original ESA shocks. I see you replaced your with WP. Did you have to send in your originals for conversion? How long did the process take? How about a ride review of the new shocks? Notice any difference between originals and aftermarket? Thanks in advance.
