Bud Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Riding on the Highway. 65 MPH. Acted like the kill switch was used. Good battery, good headlight, horn works, lights on, starter works. Any ideas? No, I haven't even started testing anything. Has fuel in tank. That's all I know.
OoPEZoO Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 first guess.......Hall Effect Sensor. Do you hear the fuel pump when you turn the key on? If yes, then check for spark. This is an 1100 right?
OoPEZoO Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Then I would definitely check for spark. Pull a sparkplug, plug it back onto the boot, and ground the threaded housing while cranking the motor. I'll be you won't get a spark across the electrode. dead ringer for the HES
smiller Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Just to note, you could get a spark and still have an HES problem, one pickup controls ignition and the other controls injection timing and a failure of either will stop the engine.

Read the thread titled "Perplexed"..Hint...always..and this means ALWAYS have/carry (and the know how/tools) a spare to replace...'nuf mentioned
Mike T Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Pull either fuel injector (don't disconnect) and point injector in a glass jar. Turn on ignition. You should see a strong even spray of gas go into the jar for 2 seconds and stop. If not, you may have a fuel filter hose disconnected in the gas tank. Happened to me. As previously mentioned, HES is your other prime suspect.
