Ok, who has a Pico chair? I am looking into getting a chair to put on the bike for an upcoming trip and am looking for some advice. I really like the looks of the Pico, but don't know anyone who has one. Think I might have to make a ride to Bass Pro and sit in one.

I have both.

I prefer the Kermit as equally comfortable but more packable.

I'm guessing the Pico chair would be problematic on lumpy / uneven ground due to the bars connecting the feet as compared to the 4 independent feet of the Kermit. Sagerider might have field experience with this.

I thought that the Pico would be a great base and chair. This would allow you to strap it on the back seat and then use it to support items. It fits really well on the BMR rack I have on the back seat of the RT.

I had heard that the original kermit chair was better than the ones now sold. Is that true, or are they still the same quality?

Pico is better in sand.

Kermit is better in reasonably solid but uneven terrain.

Pico sits higher than stock height Kermit. Leg extenders for Kermit are available at extra cost.

Pico is more complex, with locking mechanisms in each leg which won't allow the legs to be spread unless fully extended. Unknown how reliable/durable this mechanism is. I have experienced no problems, but I rarely use the Pico.

Cup Holders:

Pico comes standard with pockets in the chair as well as a multi-pocketed tote bag. It is possible to transport a beverage can upright while moving the chair in a semi-folded position, but it is a awkward.

Kermit, one pays extra for the cup holder, but it is well worth it as it allows you to easily fold the chair and carry it around camp with your favorite can of whatever still happily esconced upright within the cup holder.

Kermit packs in a roll <=6" diameter x 23" long.

Pico packs in a box shape 20" x 12" by 4"

Kermit will fit inside the R1200-RT large trunk with room for tent and sleeping bag.

Pico eats up almost the entire trunk becuase it is too large to sit flat in the bottom.

If I have the choice between the Kermit and the Pico (and I normally do! ), I take the Kermit.

When I bought the Pico it was much less than the $130 mentioned. (~$70).

For nearly the same price, I believe the Kermit is far superior for motorcycle based use.

Edit:

FWIW, IMO 3rd place is a long distance down from either the Kermit or the Pico.
