Lmar Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 My RT waiting for me to take it home. Stopping after 140 km to take a second look. After 330 km I finally parked my new RT in the garage. What a nice ride!!
Bill_Walker Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Congrats! I guess we know what you consider to be its best angle!
ArthurKnowles Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Congrats. Looks like a nice ride. I hope so as I'll be bringing one home pretty much like that next weekend myself.
SWB Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Congrats. Looks like a nice ride. I hope so as I'll be bringing one home pretty much like that next weekend myself. Don't rub it in Arthur... it's getting a bit old, all that bragging, ya know?! (Just kidding; looking forward to seeing the pix, of you with both the new RT and a new job. Good luck!) - Scott
Indy Dave Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 After 330 km I finally parked my new RT in the garage. What a nice ride!! Sweet ride! Don't let it sit too long in the garage - it'll get lonely out there alone
VinnyR11 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Very nice ride, and nice shot. What was your prior ride, and in it's very short lifespan, what are finding to be the biggest upside/downsides (if any downsides) from the switch? Congrats on the new ride!!
krussell Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 A gorgeous bike. I'm a year behind you. Your going to love it.
lvnvbiker Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Nice bike, and you did happen to buy the absolute coolest and fastest color that BMW makes. Good on you mate!
Lmar Posted May 6, 2009 Author Posted May 6, 2009 What was your prior ride, and in it's very short lifespan, what are finding to be the biggest upside/downsides (if any downsides) from the switch? My prior ride was a 2003 GL1800. The RT is lighter, nimbler and much more fun to ride. The brakes are much better than the GL and the suspension is a lot smoother. The bike seems to fit me perfectly. I don't notice much of a difference in power. The GL was smoother, less vibration. My RT seems a little smoother than the 2008 RT I test drove last fall. Could be just my imagination. The seat will take some getting used to. I drove home yesterday (330 km) and my butt was a little sore. My butt did ache a bit on long days on the Goldwing. I took it out for another 120 km this evening. I love the bike!
ArthurKnowles Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Just kidding; looking forward to seeing the pix, of you with both the new RT and a new job. Good luck! Thanks, still waiting to see how the job thing will work out. HR and the CEO need to make a decision as to how they want to proceed. There is a buyout option for the temp agency I am working through, so some luck could come in handy. I have been working some long hours though. Put in 18 over the weeknd. Started some maintenance but ran in to some hardware compatibility problems. I am still very tired. The 8~10 hour ride from NV to CA seems like a peaceful, enjoyable, ride. I'm looking forward to it. Maybe SageRider can take a pic or two when we meet up on my ride home. Wish mine had a topcase though. Guess I'll have to shell out a few bucks after I get it home. Unless I use my Givi trunk on it for a while. Kind of undecided on that. The RT does look nice all decked out like that.
Spinn Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Right on! And you had a great weekend of riding weather too! (Hopefully you didn't have to ride through any of the smoky / fire areas getting home.) Tough staying under 4000 RPM?
