SANTA Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Came to town today. a whole trailer full of 2009 models for demo. i only had time for one ride, so picked the f800st. what a joy to ride, if i didn't already own m r1100s i would be all over one of them like white on rice. i like the watercooled twin cyl setup a nice step up from the f650 single, should also eliminate alot of throttle body balancing issues, and the belt drive is in my mind the right solution for most situations where a shaft was required in the past... So those of you who have one or had one please chime in on what you features have found to make this a solid bike
David13 Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Yes, I have one and I like it very much. Very light weight. And super good gas mileage. I am trying to find out about the balance or sync issue. So far nobody has needed it as everybody is still at low mileage and new bike. Almost everybody likes them. The big issue for some people is they want more power, and so go to a K bike. dc
WildWilly Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Owned a R1100S, and loved it, and just put 1,000 miles on my 09 ST. Did a 450 mile day trip last Sunday and the ST passed the mid-distance test with flying colors. Have BMW bags and topcase and plan to do some long distance this summer. Put on a pair of mirror extenders to get a better view and I'm done with mods. Footpegs and handlebars fit like a glove and the stock windshield does not cause any turbulence. Smooth linear power, fantastic mileage, averaging 55 MPG during break in, and just a hoot to stuff into a turn. Feels as light as my bicycle and will easily pull 120mph, or so I've been told. Would like a 5 gallon gas tank, but with the great mileage I can live with it. It's a KEEPER.
