Thinking about putting the TPM on my bike. Has anyone done that yet? If so, how is the install on the front tire valve handled?

Thanks.

I don,t have a answer to your question but I am in search of a Tpm myself, was there a perticular reason you picked the Doran ?

These monitors should be on everyones to do list my 1st cousin crashed this week over a rear tire failure an his wife is in critical condition the tire was new with less than 500mi on it .

They were only doing 35mph in a 45 zone one of these devices could have saved them alot of misory good luck !

I just checked and the Doran TPM is not compatable with the R1200RT. They have a tech bulliten explaining that because fo the unique valve stem on the front wheel, the sensors will not work. You cannot mount them inside the rin becasue of this design and if mounted externally they will interfere with the rotars. Otherwise it looked like a nice system.

OK, new info - see my post under Tire Pressure Monitor above. Did you get the info off the DOran website or from a phone call? My dealer doesn't think there will be a problem.

The Doran unit looks good (good features, easy installation, price is right, and I like that the same sensors can be installed either inside of outside of the tires) but... from what I can tell the batteries inside the sensors are non-replaceable and you must replace the entire sensor (at $50 each) when the battery dies. This isn't a huge expense (about $100 every three years if their battery life claims are correct) but still seems kind of inelegant. Plus if the company goes out of business then your TPM system is automatically defunct, or will be within a few years.

Thanks for the info on the tech bulletin. I've forwarded it to my dealer. He says he has a way of doing it and I'm asking him to check with Doran on his method.

Keep us posted if it works. I will be intrested to see if it works. Its possible that it will work but just doesnt go together like the company intended so they prefer to just call it incompatible. However, I would be leary on ordering one since it clearly states that it wont work on the inside. I havent looked at the inside of the front rim so I cant say. One would think that if it could work the company would provide special instructions for this use and broaden their sales range.

Ordered mine today they told me a replacement cinsor would be $25.00 . I talked to a tech his name was Lee Demis you might call an ask him about that Mod for the 1200 . Mine is a 1100RT want have that issue but I will have to have the tires dismounted to have the metal valve stems installed .
