Hi

I have a 2006 R1200rt with CD player. I am having heck of a time trying to remove the plastic (Tupperware) on the left side of the bike. The issue is with the connector that connects to the radio control. I am not able to unplug it.

Any idea on how to disconnect both this connectors on the left side of the panel.

Please help.

I just removed all the tupperware on my 08. On the left side panel I just left the panel that has the radio/CD controls connected. I took the panel and twisted upwards so I could place it up in front of the handlebars. I wrapped a rag around it so it would not get scratched. This worked perfect for me as I also could not figure out how to disconnect the wires. There must be some special BMW tool. I hope you understand what I am trying to explain. If not call me 563-588-1774.

Palani, I find the secret to removing those three plugs is to push the plug in, push in on the release tabs on each side of the plug with your thumb and index finger then pull the wire with your remaining 3 fingers. If it does not start to move with a gentle tug, you have not gotten the tabs released. Focus on the release before pulling. It helps to have small fingers. Study the plugs with a flashlight to locate the release tabs. They have to be pushed inward toward the plug but there are side wings along both sides of the tabs that you have to push the tabs below. Pushing the plug in first helps reduce drag on the release tabs while squeezing the tabs towards each other.

I used needle nose pliers once and ended up tearing the insulation from one of the wires. If you bent the tips of the needle nose inward a bit, you could release the clips but be careful using force. I have learned the trick using my right hand and can release them easily. I hold the panel with my left hand while releasing the plugs.

Good luck. Bob Buck

you can also remove the 3 or 4 screws that secure the radio control panel to the tuppperwear side panel. Once you're done that, you can examine the connectors with ease and discover how to remove them for the next time.

Thanks guys,

I just left the panel on the left side supported while I worked on the valve. I just could not remove the connector.

Thanks for all the feedback.
