Francois_Dumas Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 I put 'speeding' in quotes because the 'offense' was a FOUR KILOMETER PER HOUR exceeding the maximum speed limit on the highway !!! This was when rushing Jacqueline and Richard to the castle (we were running a tad late) so fortunately all for a good cause ! I hope the Dutch bloody government gets eternally happy with my additional 16 Euros !
ltljohn Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 That's just ridiculous. 2.4 MPH, it will probably cost them 20 Euros to process the paperwork
Hermes Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Seems totally unreasonable to me. I defy anyone to keep the speed in any vehicle (other then steamrollers) to within plus/ minus 0 tolerance. More the plus though. Think of it as a donation for a good cause, Francois; like helping out a drug addict to obtain a set of fresh sharpies (needles).
Lawman Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 You guys are are just a little more progressive than we are here in the U.S. but we're closing in fast...
Whip Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 I can't imagine why any one would feel the need to exceed the posted limit. I have never.................

Does this affect your cost of insurance, count against you in accumulated points, or in any way produce a negative mid-term impact? Are there alternative ways to handle this citation?, Like here in US, we can take a defensive driving course and have the conviction removed from our record once we meet a probationary period.

Antimatter Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Well, I got stopped for 57 in a 55 last year on my '05 ZX-6R. I have a sneaking suspicion that it was a license/insurance check more than anything else. Although I imagine the sheriff's deputy was a bit surprised to see my gray beard and balding head appear from under my helmet. No ticket was issued. Just an admonishment to slow down.
stubble! Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 There you go, hooning it up again. I suppose you were riding with one hand too. Tsk tsk.
azkaisr Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 That is why I didn't do 112 here(even though you can't trust GPS). I figured they would tag me for it.

Back in my college days I got stopped for the same heinous infraction--57 in a 55. Prob'ly was because I was a long-hair driving a sports car. The officer asked "Do you have any idea what would happen to you if your crashed at fifty-seven miles per hour?" Even then I knew enough not to answer.

tobyzusa Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Speeding is so wrong... I was reminiscing on the discussions and revelations of our lunch in Ft. Davis, and was just curious how that fits with this statement?

Nope to all of the above. So, you get your ticket, you pay it and that's it... You don't need to pretend you're a good law-abiding citizen at least for a year until you can take the defensive driving course again. Wanderful. Like paying for having a little fun, but only if caught. I LIKE IT!!!
