DennyB Posted August 18, 2005 Share Posted August 18, 2005 The panniers on the the 1200RT have a reel-up mechanism to keep the lids from falling when opened. The attachment at the lid is a button-like fitting that is detachable. It is possible for this button to become inadvertently detached when the lid is closed against your luggage. Then, when the lid is opened, it falls free. This does not seem to be a problem unless the bike is on the side stand and your opening the left pannier. In that case, the lid can hit the pavement with obvious results. That's a long explanation of a simple problem. Hope to save someone from scratching that nice paint. Link to comment
