jeddy
Some of you may recall my earlier post on a failure I experienced on my GS. Essentially, the bike would not start and I would get an "EWS" read out on the display. The chipped key, apparently, would not "talk" to the bike to tell it to start. Well after a couple of weeks at the dealer, the problem was diagnosed as a failed "antenna ring". The ring is located around the ignition switch. My dealer did not have the necessary hardware from BMW to properly source the problem which is why it sat in the shop for two weeks. They still don't have the equipment, despite ordering it, but the tech swapped the defective ring for a new one and viola! I hope the problem is permanently solved. Obviously this type of failure presents a real problem if your off in the boonies when it occurs because there is no apparent way to wrench yourself out of the prediciment. According to my dealer, I'm the lucky first guy to have this type of failure. Hopefully I'll be the last one as well. Link to comment
