John Dickens
Is it allowable to use metal feeler gauges to set the air gaps for the abs wheel sensors? I realise that there are a couple of plastic strips supplied in the toolkit but I prefer the accuracy I get with stepped feeler gauges. I realise that I musn't leave any metallic debris in the gap but will metal to metal contact with the ignition off cause any damage? Am I also correct in reading that the gap should be 17 to 20 thou at its widest point? Link to comment

Metal is fine, the coil in the sensor is sealed in a plastic housing, so no electrical contact is possible. Sensor gap for '99 RT (front or rear, same) is .45-.55mm. Spec may have changed in '02 with the new brakes, you'll probably want confirmation. Link to comment
