any front tire recommendations?

I am just at the point where I need to replace the OE Dunlop tire. I do not want to replace it with another Dunlop. I put a ME 880 on the rear but can't seem to find a supplier for a ME 880 in the size required.

The majority of my riding is interstate and, at times, in the rain.

I use a Z6 front paired with an ME880 on the rear

I'm in a similar situation, and will need a new front by the end of the month. Are any brands better than others with cupping, and staying reasonably quiet through the life of the tire?

I called the dealer to price the ME 880 for replacement and they quoted me $180 for tire and mounting/balancing. I can find the tire cheaper but they charge a hefty fee to balance. I think I need to find someone who can balance the tire much cheaper. I do want the ME 880 for longevity but will consider the recommendations here as well.

why don't you change it yourself? for about a hundred bucks you can get a balancer. buy a set if tire irons and you are almost home. only breaking the bead is left and that you can do with the kick stand. my last set of RT tires was 138.00 for the pair (dunlop) delivered to my door. I got tired of paying the dealer to have it done.

I put a set of Pirelli Diablo Strada's on about 3,000 klms ago & they are great.

Grip like nothing else and wearing well.

Way better than the previous Metzlers.

I dont knwo what OE Dunlop tire you have as I thought the Michelins were OE tire for the RT. I have a Dunlop roadsmart and it handles alot better than the Michelin it replaced. Of course I havent like Michelin tires on any bike I have had.

My '08 came with Pilot Roads (which get good marks from most...) On previous bikes, I have been riding with Avon's for quite some time and I could not get comfortable with the handling "feel" of the PR front. I ended up switching to an Avon front and leaving the PR on the rear. FOR ME, the switch to the Avon made the bike's handling feel mucho better and more familiar.

YMMV

I've broken beads a lot of different ways but I've never heard of using the kickstand. How about some elaboration? My only worry about doing it myself on the RT is...well, I kinda want to keep this one pristine, not screw up the rim with my old leaf springs that double as tire tools. They're great for the old stuff but the mags on this seem less forgiving of a little steel abuse..

I replaced my OEM's with Michelins Sport Pilot 2's. Night and day difference. quieter, better grip, and longer lasting. Pricey, but the longer mileage may make up for the difference in price.
