Firefight911
Since the calendars are starting to fill really fast, I figure I had better get this out there and get it in the calendar section as well. Who: YOU silly!!! When: April 18 AND/OR April 19 Where: A&S BMW/Ducati/Vespa 1125 Orlando Avenue Roseville, CA 916-726-7334 www.ascycles.com What: Saturday, April 18 - Motorcyclist 1st Aid class What do you do in the event of an unfortunate motorcycle accident? How do I treat the rider? What are the symptoms of injury? How can I prevent getting in a bad situation? How do I protect myself and the injured rider from injury? Come on down to A&S BMW on April 18 and get these questions and many more answered. I'll be teaching and showing you what you can do to prepare yourself to be a helping hand and make a difference when it counts. Sunday, April 19 - Tech Daze Wow, you mean I can come to A&S BMW, use THEIR lifts, etc. and work on my own bike? You mean there will be actual trained BMW mechanics there to answer my questions? Yep!! That and more. Come learn to work on your bike with friends helping out. Heck, last year we did a COMPLETE clutch on an RT, start to finish, in less than 7 hours. Best part is that it was a father/son project!!! Even if you have no desire to work on your own bike, what will you do if you have a problem out there while riding????? Wouldn't it be nice to be able to do some simple things that could allow you to continue on your trip or, at least, get you to the next exit? We'll have access to the service department, knowledge, friendship, and an open parts department for your needs. Bring your own materials, tools, and supplies. We DO NOT have use of the technicians private tools so bring what you need. I'll bring my tools in case someone needs something they forgot. Tires - yep - we can use the tire machine and they will take the old ones. Oil - yep - we can even dump the waste at A&S. Service - yep - minor, major, specific all doable! Cost for both or one? Nada, nothing, zippo. A&S will provide lunch on Saturday during the 1st Aid class and Jamie and I will provide the lunch on Sunday at our expense. There will be a tip bucket out for the techs since they are giving up an entire day of their time to help us out and we'll place a separate bucket out to help defray the lunch cost on Sunday. There is absolutely no obligation. More specifics will follow as we move closer but I would like to solicit feedback on the tech portion to see if we want to have a specific service, option, info session shown. I also would like to see if someone in possession of a current updated GS-911 would be willing to do a demo on a donor bike to show the capability of this device for the DIY'er. Come on down and join us for one or both days!!!! Psst, if nothing else, come on down and view the eye candy!!!!!! A&S is now an official Ducati dealer!!!! You see, they're not just for BMW anymore!! Put it down on your calendars and keep checking back as I iron out the details. Last year we even went indoor kart racing on Friday night. Who knows what we might do this year! Thanks to A&S for their unparalleled support of our passion. Please, take a moment to consider the overwhelming generosity and support of a dealership that allows you to work on your own motorcycle in their service department!!!!!! Also, I would be remiss if I did not thank the overwhelming support of our local ride club, the River City Beemers. They provide all the support and costs associated with materials for the two days - handouts, chairs, tables, etc. And, of course, there's Hot Jamie (2bmwfan) my wife. She is the one who takes care of the lunch on Sunday!!!!!! See ya there! Link to comment

JohnTena
And I need some hand-holding to replace my brake fluid. I'll make sure that my gas tank is nearly empty... In for Sunday only. Link to comment
skyskier
Hey Phil, Looking at my odometer this morning it looks like I will be doing an 18K service on my bike. Which is really only an oil change more than the valve adjustment and TB sync I was already planning. So I was going to make up a list of parts and things that I will be needing. As I started doing this I thought, in the interest of fair play and as a small gesture of thanks to A&S I decided to buy everything I need for the service from them. Do you know if they will be open to sell these types of things on Sunday, or will I need to do my shopping on Saturday after the 1st aid class? Thanks. Link to comment
Firefight911
A&S is open 7 days a week! They will have all your supplies available. Link to comment
SageRider
IN! (weather permitting.) I will most likely be coming out Saturday morning, so will miss the first part of the 1st aid class. I will have my GS-911 with me for demos at the tech day, but I don't expect to have any work due on my bike. Link to comment
snurdle
I'm an IN for this on Sunday and would like to see if I can make Saturday as well, did it last year and enjoyed it. I'm not really needing anything service wise at this time, but will change the front pads a bit early and change the brake fluid (a bit late). Would also like some sage advice on my GS' 4th gear growl. Gratuity collection for the techs is a wizard idea, I was pondering how to tip and to whom last year. Link to comment
Shaman97
Gratuity collection for the techs is a wizard idea, I was pondering how to tip and to whom last year. I agree - those guys were great. I believe they were on A&S' clock, but their help was unbelievable. Link to comment
skyskier
Phil, I am going to do an 18K service on my bike (same as 6K) and that service is the baseline for every service. I would like to volunteer my bike as a demonstration. I can do the work with a little guidance and the folks that have never done a service could see that anyone can do it if I can. Just a thought. tcshooter
I am in if I can get the company to fly me out for the week in Los Gatos. Link to comment

Heck
Kinda late to the party here, but I could prolly use help in changing out brake fluid in all the circuits on the GS...Think there is room? Link to comment

Firefight911
OK, we've got some things starting to firm up as we move along. We have a brake bleed project bike that will be on the lift first thing Sunday morning. It's an '04 R1150RT. I need a guru to help show off this skill for those wanting to see it. Anyone?? Anyone?? Buehler?? Buehler?? Richard?? Richard?? Thanks Little Joe!! Michael (SageRider) will have his GS-911 on hand and will be giving a demo on its use , function, etc. Michael, do you have a vehicle preference or do you need/want a guinea pig/pigs?? Skyskier is our guinea pig on the R1200RT for a valve adj and TB sync. Plenty of other lifts available and plenty of work to do so don't be shy!!!! We need some K bike action!!!! My K13GT will most likely be there but I don't anticipate any work being needed at this time. If not the K13GT, I'll have my F800GS. Sunday will start at 9 AM sharp!! As soon as they roll open the service bay doors we will get things rolling so if you're listed above, please try to be timely so we can get you going and get some learn on and then make the time/space available for others to do theirs, etc. Coffee/Donuts will be available. Saturday's 1st Aid portion will begin at 945 AM. Doors open at 9 AM and coffee/donuts will be available. **** IMPORTANT NOTE **** For the 1st Aid class, Megan McCleer with A&S has asked that we continue to follow past practice and have a sign up process for this portion of the weekend. In order to confirm your spot and guarantee that you will have a lunch, PLEASE, email Megan at megan@ascycles.com. You must email Megan to confirm your slot and to help A&S BMW/Ducati out in the buying lunch department. Posting here does not confirm your slot. We have always had a large crowd and I don't want anyone to miss out on this awesome opportunity to learn some great stuff. Email Megan for the 1st Aid portion. If you are coming Sunday just show up!! No need to confirm with Megan for Sunday, only Saturday for the 1st Aid Class. Post here for Sunday so we have an idea about how much food to have available for Sunday. Recap: Saturday - Motorcyclist 1st Aid Class Doors open at 9AM. Class begins at 945 AM. It will last until somewhere around 2 or 3 depending on the class itself and what you want, etc. Our own Jacqueline has offered herself up for helmet removal, etc. Thank you so much!!!!!!! EMAIL MEGAN AT megan@ascycles.com for Saturday to confirm your slot. Lunch is provided free of charge for Saturday by A&S BMW/Ducati. All handouts are provided by my local BMW motorcycle club, The River City Beemers. Sunday - Tech Daze Doors open at 9AM. Above listed donor bikes try to be timely so we can get rolling, etc. No need to sign up. Just show up. BRING YOUR OWN TOOLS. I will have my tools there for anything forgotten, etc. I will also have my torque wrench as I know this can be cumbersome to carry sometimes. I will also have a TwinMax and all hexhead particular tools needed for servicing them. Hand clean up and rags will be provided. If there is a special tool needed post here so we can make sure the tool you need is available for you. There will be at least one BMW trained tech on hand to help out with questions, tips, tricks of the trade, etc. If there is something you would really like to see a tech do, let me know and I'll see if we can possibly get them to show it. Also, if you would like something in particular, or a certain something explained, let me know and I will help facilitate. Remember, this is your Tech Daze so ask for it and I'll try to do my best to facilitate. Lunch is free and provided by Jamie (2bmwfan) and myself on Sunday. I, again, want to remind everyone of how fortunate we are to have a dealer that will support us in this way!!!! Let's honor that by being there and thanking them and doing some learning and wrenching. Of course, we can't forget the awesome social aspect of this either!!!!! There will be a tip can for the techs available if you feel so inclined. No obligation. There will be a separate can available to help defray any costs of the food from Sunday that Jamie and I provide. Again, no obligation. Any overage from this can will go back to the board. I am still working on some other "stuff" for both days. I'll let you know if anything pans out! It could be fun!!! I forget anything???????????? Let me know either by posting here or PM'ing me. Tic Toc!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's getting closer!!!! Link to comment
SageRider
Michael (SageRider) will have his GS-911 on hand and will be giving a demo on its use , function, etc. Michael, do you have a vehicle preference or do you need/want a guinea pig/pigs?? Any and all welcome. I know my bike will show error codes for the ESA system, which has been replaced. The latest Beta software has been released and looks to be VERY interesting, adding (as applicable) service reminder reset, Idle actuator calibration function, reading of distance to next valve check, full functionality for ABSN real time values and bleed tests, and much more... JR356
Hi, Any chance on getting Phil Douglas/Aftershocks there to do his suspension setup specials? Know he has been there several times in the past year but have always missed it. He was only charging something like $20 per bike. Seems like this would be a popular addition to Sunday. Little Joe
As Phil indicated, I'm in early on Sunday for a brake flush and bleed. The suspension setup sounds intriguing. I have a pair of Wilbers that are new to the bike, and work far better than stock just as they came out of the box, but I'd be interested to know how to fine tune them. Link to comment
Spartan
Suspension set up would be great. I have a set of Ohlins waiting to go on the RT. If there will be someone to help me set up the shocks I will install them before Sunday. Link to comment

SuicideDog
Well I'll be there and so will my father-in-law. I've got my 2000 mile maintenance to do so I will see how much I can get done. The rest I'll watch someone else do and do it at home. I think my Father-in-law will be just an observer. If someone could link me or tell me where I can find a check list for the 2k maintenance check list so I can get and bring everything I need for the tech day that would be great! See you all there! BTW: My name is Steve. I live down the street from Richard, and yes he turned me to the dar.. uh.. BMW side of the force. Link to comment
