2nd Annual Nor Cal meets So Cal in the Middle

I'm planning the Nor Cal meets So Cal in the Middle ride. 2nd Annual as it were. Joshua Tree and AHRMA take the last weekend in April. So I'm looking at either April 11th or April 18th. I'll select based on most rider preference.

The deal. My home is available for floor space sleeping and one guest room. Outside there is plenty of tent space. April nights are mild. Days are warm. Arrivals to my home on Friday throughout the day and night are fine. I'll leave the light on for ya.

There is the Blackhawk Lodge on CA-41 only 12 minutes away and the Chukchansi Casino only 18 minutes away for those who desire a bit more privacy and quiet. I suggest gassing up at the Chevron on Yosemite Springs Parkway within Yosemite Lakes Park where I live prior to coming up to the house. A coffee fix will be provided Saturday morning prior to take off.

At 9:30 am we depart to a local hang-out for breakfast. Afterwards you will be rewarded with sweepers, hairpins, elevation changes, and photo opps. If we are lucky a snow capped Sierra will still be visible. We will stop for lunch about 4 hours later.

Saturday evening should you want to stay one more night I will BBQ Joe's famous WFO burgers.

And yes, out-of-state riders are more than welcome.

If the attendance is higher than expected I can break-up riders into groups or provide maps if desired for a more casual tip toe through the foothills.

So what weekend works for you? April 11th or April 18th

Joe,

I'd go for the 11th. You beat me to the posting but the Annual N. Cal Tech Daze and 1st Aid class is slated for April 18/19. A&S BMW is hosting both for us again.

Hey Joe,

You are awesome for hosting this event...J and I cannot make either date. We will be in Sequim WA on the 11th, and the weekend of the 18th we have a room booked in Ventura at the Bellamaiore, an incredible little European style inn.

BTW, that weekend is also the Rider Magazine Rally which is held in So Cal this year. Just so you know...

Have fun,

Steve in So Cal

As we spent all our pennies over Christmas in Europe and the slow down has finally hit Gary's company we'll have to wait until it gets closer to the date to say "in". But if at all possible we'd sure like to make it. Either dates will work for us. Sure would like to see everyone again.

If Mr. Multhaup is coming I will have to do my best to be there also....I will camp on Friday evening (and maybe Saturday also) if I can make it.

Thanks for doing this!!

In tentative for the 11th, as I'm off that whole weekend...

Still subject to other schedule conflicts....

Well, the 11th is Easter weekend, for those of us of the Christian persuasion. That said, I can't make it on the 18th, so I'll vote for the 11th. I'm sure the Lord will understand.

I have it from good authority that he understands completely and will follow your path until you safely return home from the natural cathedral he provided.

I know it's two months away but I'm already excited about seeing my friends and meeting new ones. Great route planned.

Okay, it looks like the Boss has to go to Fla. to take care of some business, and it will have to be the weekend before and during this one. (She'll be gone all week, and I'm not sure I'm gonna make it through the week as it is.) I'm trying to figure out how to get out there with her at least for a little while, but still be able to make this.

So for now, I'm still tentative, but would like to reserve some yard space, with electrical outlet access please, for Friday and Saturday.

I'll know more as the dates get closer.

Jets fly out of Fresno-Yosemite International Airport a few each day. If that helps.

Long extension cord reserved for Richard. Just try not to disturb the neighbors.

Having said this, I'm now (I know you'll all be shocked to hear this) a definite maybe. Turns out there's a horse show that weekend. But it's a local show, we might not be going, maybe I get an alternate driver, etc.

P.S. I assume the guest room is already spoken for, and this bod don't camp, so I'll be at the Blackhawk.

Missed this thread until now (that is until Joe came to our house to tell me of it) and it just so happens that I have a block of days off over Eostre weekend so we're seriously looking into a getaway to meet up with our NorCal friends!

We'll let you know as the date gets closer, but it looks like a LOT of fun and the schedule looks very good so far!!

Thanks, Joe! :)

Hey!! I'm only 20 minutes from trees and twisties!

But the friends are usually a bit more spread out! :(

I would say, that if Phil can make it then I'd be there . . . but then I'd never have ANY fun!! :dopeslap:

Ohh well. Bummer, but shoulder repairs are going to prevent me from riding anywhere for a few months. Coarsegold is out. Torrey is out. Maybe I'll see y'all at Fall Torrey.

I'm a probable "out" for this one.

I think me and my honey are gonna go have dinner in Rome, or some other foreign/exotic location!

I'll be sure to post if things change and I'm "in."

Ladies and Gentleman get those tire pressures set, oil levels checked, and get ready for some good riding. What I'm asking of you is a head count of those planning to join in the ride. Include a time of expected arrival so that we can be ready. The guest room has been reserved by Leslie and Jamie. There is one other private room suited for a couple that I can setup with a queen size air mattress. Tent space is plentiful. Tony and Lori have requested "indoor rustic" and are taking the garage. Other areas in the home are suitable for other floor camping. Two local motels as mentioned in the initial post on this thread are a good bet to have vacancies. Those of you that are IN will be sent directions. Good riding!

We'll take a room if there is one! If Lori can't handle kitty fur we will then move to the garage. But I'll put in for a room if I can... purty please...

Tony has upgraded his reservations to indoor "non-rustic" private. Bye-the-way this ride does not require a National Park pass but if you have a get-out-of-a-ticket pass bring it along .

Just kidding.

A little late making up my mind, but will be there along with Jerry (Flying Eagle) Spillman. We will stay at the Chukchansi Friday night, and arrive at your house for the ride to breakfast on Saturday morning. We will break off from the ride Saturday in the afternoon and head back to the bay area.

We will be leaving from my house at 9am for breakfast at the Fairway Cafe in YLP. I'll reserve two chairs for you at the bonfire. I do hope to use the fire pit this year. Not bragging but I have lots of wood.

Franz and I did a pre-run today and the ride is looking like about 250 miles of leaning over from one side to the other.

Ok, I still gotta dial in the details, but I'll arrive Friday night also. Leavin' Palo Alto at 3pm. I think with a late arrival, the tent will stay at home. I'll ring ya up for details if you can PM me a phone number Joeseppi....

I'm expecting booze and cigars from Heck. :D

Hi Joe,

Look's like my schedule is permitting me for the weekend of April 11-12. Is there still space on your floor?

I will be attending Jamie's First Responder Class this Sunday and I will ask him what his plan for the 2nd Annual Nor Cal Meets. If I can hook up with Jamie and Leslie will be great but if they are leaving early, I might ended riding by myself.

Please email me your complete address so that I can put it on my GPS.

See you and all soon,

Gery

Believe it or not I've been fiercely guarding my schedule and it has remained free!

I'm teaching the First Responder for Motorcyclists on Sunday at SD BMW and afterward TonyK and I will be doing tires! Y'all can come on by if you're in town.

Leslie and I will be heading up the coast on Thursday (I have a filming project to do en route  ) and likely be staying in Salinas Thursday night. We'll take the scenic route to Coarsegold (VERY open to suggestions, BTW! ) and we'll see you all Friday afternoon/night. We'll head back partway on Sunday taking the inland route and stopping for the night before hitting the "get back to 'Hell A' on Sunday night to be ready for work on Monday" crowd. Then we can enjoy the remainder of the trip on a Monday while everyone else is at work.

I've been working 75 hours/week at the station and another 30+ on political stuff off duty so I'm SERIOUSLY ready for a vacation! I'm going to need the battery recharge (plus part of the Joshua Tree Campout) riding and hanging with friends I don't get to see enough to be able to make it through the Special Election on May 19th! :dopeslap:

Thanks to Joe for putting this ride on again!

How'd I miss this??

IN. Friday afternoon/evening arrival. If there's tent space, that's good for me. If'n I can persuade the rear seat riding partner to give up work for the day, we'll be looking for a motel room.

Thanks for having this.

Bob
