2004 R1150RT Ohlins shock installation

Attempting to install ohlins shock on rear of 04 1150rt every thing going according to plan however top of ohlins shock appears much narrower than original. No bushing or shims supplied. If I attempt to torque to spec to frame on bike will crush inward. shock supplies is OHBM125 and claims to be the correct shock. What to do????

Those are the ones I bought for both Leslie's 2002 and my 2003 so I have no idea why they wouldn't fit your 2004. Are you sure they're right-side up?

 

Do you have measurements of your stock ones to compare with the Öhlins? If they're only a mm or so off you might be able to shim the gap with some good quality washers. If the gap is larger, I would contact the supplier to make sure you got the right shock.

Just put a set on my bike. Did you take the metal sleeve and rubber thing off the OEM top front shock and put them on the Ohlin front shock? You need to do this if you have not. Good luck.

uff duh..., sorry.., just noticed you were speaking of the rear shock. Mine fit fine on top but was a bear to get into the botton..., a very tight fit. The top should fit with no play.

Thanks for those that responded. Called Ohlins Usa today, what is believed to have happened either at the factory or distributor is that the RT bushing for the shock top mount was not installed or included in the box that arrived at the house. Ohlins Usa was very courtious as was the distributor promising to overnight the missing bushing.
