John Updike, prize-winning writer, dead at age 76

 

He's one of a handful of writers whose style I've purposefully copied and attempted to emulate. I haven't read much of his work since college, but I signed up for any class his name appeared on the reading list.

 

And hey, he even appeared in an episode of The Simpsons (as the ghost writer for a 20-page book about Krusty the Clown).
