Dans08
I removed the body work it install Centech and adjust the valves and do a TBS. The bike has the stainless steel screws for the body work. I have the bike back together agaqin and I found I have two black screws left over which are identical to the SS screws and I don't know where they belong. Any ideas? Link to comment

Tony_K
This is a excellent test for psychic power. Tuning.... tuning.... Inside by the oil cooler at the front or the bike... Link to comment
swfraley
The ones under the mirrors are the really long ones. I always forget the ones at the oil cooler, under the headlight. I also forget the ones by the cylinder heads, but there are four of them. Oh, and above the license plate. Truth be told, I hate those things. Almost enough to make me trade for an R or a GS..... nrp
but there are four of them. Beside EACH cylinder head....... Link to comment
jfixit
It may be best to take all the body work back off and start over. Seriously though slowly follow the body work around in a circle until you find the empty holes, the only hidden screws are under the mirrors and at the rear of the gas tank, the last two will be obvious if you remove the seat. As previously stated check by the oil cooler and around the cylinder head. Remember it will not be fair if you don"t let us know where they belonged. Link to comment
Dans08
What has me stumped is, where do these belong. Before I started removing the body work screws I made a cardboard template by this I mean, I draw the shape of the body panels on a piece of cardboard for each side of the bike. I punched a hole in the cardboard in the location for each screw and as I removed the SS screws I inserted the screw into each hole in the template this way I knew where the screws belonged when it was time to re-install the panels. These 2 black screws where placed in a cup and now I don't remember where they belong. Fun! Link to comment

I think I'll have to do that and I'll post an update. Link to comment

They were the ones you found that fell out when you removed the seat that was left there by the original owner when he changed out all the black screws for the stainless ones Link to comment

RickB
I created this thingy to keep track of my fasteners. As you can see, I have four extras too. Link to comment
Dans08
right in front of the seat.... I thought I looked there but I'll look again. I seem to remember these screws were covered by something and thats why they were not SS. I'll look this thing over until I find where they go. There is still snow on the ground so I have time. jfixit
I have six in the center not counting the two covered by the seat. Also check the two that go in the corner of the speakers. Link to comment

DrPaul
Is it possible you removed them from the dash? Oops, didn't read the last post! Glad you found their home! Link to comment
Silver Surfer/AKAButters
BTW-Not necessary to remove those as I recall. Correct? Link to comment
