Boxwrench
I bought the model for my bike,SM-5. It has a short wire w/ a molex connector on one end and a clamp splice to attach it. This is to allow the flasher to work past the time out w/ the brake applied. The Instructions say to splice in the molex wire to the grey w/ yellow stripe brake line. Being new to these bikes where can I do this close to the fuse box under the seat? Link to comment

jonzn
When I put the SignalMinder on my 04 RT, I had to splice in some wire to the wire that would connect with the grey/yellow. I then routed the now longer spliced wire to the tail light where the grey/yellow wire is readily available. No problems for the past 6 months. When I put the SignalMinder on my 95 GS, there was a brake light wire easily assessible (sp) right near the fuse box so no splicing was necessary. HTH jonzn Link to comment
madnance
just got the new SM-5. Thanks for the advice to splice the red wire so it would reach to the brake light assembly. I could not find the Grey/yellow wire in the fuse box. The cancel signal light timer feature and everything else works great. But the brake flash isn't. Will check with Kisan. '04 1150RT. Allen Rowand
When I installed mine I removed the old relay and holder, which made enough room to put the SM-5 in place of the stock unit. I was able to splice into the grey/yellow inside the fusebox. Closing the positap was a PITA! Allen Link to comment
NonComp
I just soldered to the connector at the light socket. I really don't like the taps all that much. Link to comment

I seem to remember having the same problem and it seemed the fix was to reverse the wires for the running and brake + leads on the connectors in the tail light assembly.....I am assuming the brake and stop cicuits use a common ground. Please double check that as it has been a long time since I installed my SM5, so it is all a bit foggy now. By the way, I too extended the red wire into the tail light to connect to the grey yellow wires, as the electrical connections in the tail light assembly are spring clamps on tinned wire ends. Super easy and avoids a splice in the wire harness. Link to comment
