KeyLime
I grabbed a handfull of front brakes the other day and the lever just coasted down to the right grip without any resistance OR braking. I quickly pumped the front brake and got enough to stop. Now, if I pull very easily I still have no brakes up front...if I pump the front brake...all's well. Big problem? There's plenty of fluid and no leaks. Link to comment
ShovelStrokeEd
Actually, you do have a leak, its just internal. The brake caliper piston is bypassing instead of pumping. Think of it as a bad piston ring. If you go quickly with the lever you can get some pumping effect due to not all of the available fluid being able to bypass. Time for a rebuild or replacement. big-t
The brake caliper piston is bypassing instead of pumping. I'm about 99% sure you meant "brake mastercylinder piston" Link to comment
bmwmick
I'm also sure that is what Ed meant to say. If the piston in the Master Cylinder fails, it allows pressure to 'leak' back into the reservoir. Mick Link to comment
