I saw the kickoff that bounced off the Bama receiver's face mask and thought there might be trouble.

too bad, Bama played a good season.

Utah, Boise St., and App States of the college world have a legitimate argument for a playoff.

The "bowl" season involves enough teams, more than enough.

Shorten the regular season by 1 or 2, start the bowls, and let the best team win.

Congratulations.

I really thought the Utes were going to get slammed by reality when they faced 'Bama. Wow, was I wrong. Go Utes!
Don't feel badly, Barry Switzer made an ass of himself when, prior to the game he said there was no player on the Utah team that Alabama would have recruited.

Nope, no need for one. Bama didn't look nearly as sharp as they did in the only other game of theirs I watched this year. I'm not trying to take anything away from the Utes, but I am one of those who thought that Bama should have beaten them pretty easily.

I was sneaking peeks at a TV during dinner out so I didn't watch much more than the score between courses, but Bama just didn't look the same as they did against UF. I will say that what I did see of the game looked like Utah was capitalizing on mistakes made and playing pretty opportunistic football.

Some team do a good job of preparing, others seem to treat it like a vacation, where they also need ot play a game.

Iowa for example went down a full week early and trained like it was preseason camp. They manhandled S. Carolina... if not downright embarrased them. It took 3 quarters to even get on the board. SC was a team that like Bama, was stronger on paper and had more talent overall.

The Utah team that showed up at the Sugar Bowl looked sharper than they looked all season. Their game plan was successful and pretty much knocked Alabama off their stride for at least the first quarter, when they were unable to establish any offense. Utah's hurry up offense caught Alabama's defense unprepared for the snap time and time again.

Although Alabama eventually regained their composure, Utah continued to capitalize on their mistakes and play some aggressive football. I thought the game was pretty good in the second half, but Alabama just seemed to never put together the drives they needed to even make it a game.

Not even shorten the season. Most teams have a month long layoff between their last game and a bowl game. They could easily pull off a 4-6 week playoff system without effecting the regular season. There is just too many old men and old money involved with the bowl system. I always feel bad for teams like Utah. You can't ask for anything more out of the team. As a team, they are perfect........and there is a good shot that they are going to get screwed out of a National Championship. Which will most likely be due to a bunch of jerk off ACC, Big 12, SEC, and Pac Ten voters with agendas towards their own divisions instead of picking the most deserving team.

And what do these teams have in common? They all beat Michigan at the Big House!

I have to admit I loved seeing Bama getting spanked last night. Who needs Saban? My Fins went 10-5 this year (1-15 last year), won the AFC East, and are taking on the Ravens today. GO FINS!!!

Keith, you're a Dolphin fan?

Excellent.

Grew up there, and was at first game to see local boy return the first kickoff ever (Joe Auer I think) for a 95 yd TD

Hope they do well.

In our office pool, 20 people, I was the only one who had Utah.

Wish there was real money involved.

Been a Dolphin fan since 1970. I have always respected Don Shula and the teams accomplishments. Hopefully last year was just an anomaly. I saw two Raiders (2nd fav. team) games against the Fins in the Orange Bowl and have seen 2 MNF games in Joe Robbie (sec. 206 I think in the NE corner of the end zone by the inner rail) and an amazing Jets game where Marino won it in the last minute('90 or '91). Oh yeah, I am a DOLFAN!!

Cool.

I was involved since the AFL days.

Babysat for some players, coached Nick Buoniconti's boys and got to know him, Griese, Eugene (Mercury), Csonka, Kiick, Warfield, Seiple, and others.

Woman's coach at one school I was at was daughter of the head trainer and back in the early days, the Orange Bowl was rocking.

I played in the stadium in High School and then Semi-pro.

That was a trip, about 300 people in the stands.

High school games sometimes had 40-50,000 fans.

Go Utes.
