pmottaz
Just bought an 03 1150rt (love it), but it didn't come with a manual and I am brand new to beemers. I need to reposition the seat. I've done a search but haven't come up with anything (all I can find is "...remove seat...", so obviously this must be a simple thing ) I tend to be hamfisted so I'm always careful - don't want to break it. I just can't see a way to remove the seats. Would anyone care to help me out here? TIA, Pete Link to comment
SageRider
Insert key into keyslot just below taillight. Turn key then lift rear seat from rear. Once rear seat is removed, front seat can be removed. Edit: Where is the most common place for a BMW rider to "lose" their keys??? In that keyslot under the taillight! Link to comment
tallman
The Rt seat design is fairly straightforward when you see how it works. Best wishes. Link to comment
pmottaz
Thanks for the replies. I was just out in the garage taking another look and found the key slot. Yep, I was right there was a reason nothing came up in the search...what a dope! Sheesh. Have a happy new year and again, thanks. Pete P.s. and you're right SageRider, that is something that I would definately do. I don't how much time I've spent looking around the garage for something I had in hand two minutes earlier! I have CRS (can't remember s**t) in the worst way! Link to comment

CT_Rider
Don't feel bad. The first thing I couldn't find on my RT was the starter switch. The search for the seat release came right after that . Happy New Year. Link to comment
bmw_rider
Just be certain that when you reset the rear seat that the tongue from the front is in the slot on the rear, other wise they rock, and your seat will not truely be locked on the bike. Link to comment

Whenever you think you've lost your key, look in that slot, and it will be there! I'm glad somebody addressed this. I still lose my key occasionally and usually find it in the seat release lock. Look in the space under the pillion seat, there may be a tool kit or other goodies left by the previous owner ?? Link to comment
