MotoMatt
Well I was fortunate this Christmas to get a couple of gift cards to cover the cost of a new helmet. Now the hard part, which new helmet? I have been thinking about a Shoei Multitec but am also considering sticking with just a full face. Does anyone have a new Bell Star? I have read some good reports and am wondering if they are worth the price they are asking. Choices are good to have in life! Link to comment
Firefight911
Choices are good to have in life! And better than that is a drive to your local retailer to have day of trying on all the helmets. You will receive some great input on helmets, however; helmets and their fitment is 100% subjective. Without trying them on and wearing them for some time there is no way of knowing how one will work for you. Congrats on the gift and good luck finding the one that fits you well. Link to comment
Silver Surfer/AKAButters
Cycle Gear will let you test drive any helmet for I believe, 7 days. The only ones I know with that policy. Happy hunting! Rich Link to comment
PLS8201
Got my Bell Star for Xmas at this site, for this unbelievable price. No hassles, no gimmicks, and dare I say, a beautiful, well thought out & made helmet. http://www.bellhelmets.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=1078 Link to comment
JR356
You did not identify your gift cards, but if the are from CycleGear I have heard reports that they are having a significant sale tonite and tomorrow. Not sure if this is regional or national. JR356 Link to comment
tallman
#1 is fit #2 is comfort #3 is function Take care of #'s 1 & 2. Then see what models will work based on features (flip/modular, sunscreen internal/external/none, venting, anti-fog properties) #4 color is safety related with white the best, but many of us are vain and decide to match the bike, our hair color or eyes, or gear. Best wishes. Link to comment

I went there ysterday and tried to by a new helmet shield and the salesmen told me to come back on Thursday when the sale starts. I am not sure if it is one day only. Link to comment
moshe_levy
I have a Multitec. A nice helmet, but no helmet I've ever worn has ever been half as comfy as my Arai. Every head is different - try before you buy! -MKL Link to comment
rglassma
I have a Scorpion Exo1000 and have been very happy with it. The flip down internal tinted visor is great during the day, the air pressurized cheek pads allow for proper fit 100 percent of the time, even when the helmet gets packed out. It is structurally sound and quiet.. It does have some weight though. I have used HJC full face, HJC flip ups, Shoei full face, Bell full face. I like this the best so far. Link to comment
MotoMatt
Thanks for some of the ideas. The GiftCards were for Cycle Cear and I did get a chacne to take advantage of the sale yesterday. I decided on the Multitec. The sales guy told me that they were having some issues doing special orders with Bell so I couldn't get a Star to try on and since I had been really interested in the Multitec and it fits well, I bought it and a new shield. bretthw
+1 on Shoei Multitec... I own two... yes... two Multitec helmets... love them! Road with one from TX to NY... then back... and loved the fit, noise, and ability to talk to people while at gas stations without taking off the helmet However, it comes back to fit... I found a helmet that fits like a glove... suggest going to a local shop to try it on... then buy online for cheaper price Link to comment
