when i lived in las vegas they had one bmw dealership. the service was fantastic.dale the service manager was the best. he really cared and took care of the customers. if i still lived in las vegas i would still be looking to ride a beemer. now i have moved to n.j. and the service is so bad i would not even consider buying another bmw....is scary how they don't care about customers. i would consider writing to the owners but since the service is so bad they must not care either or else they would not have let things get so bad...sad thing is if i move to triumph or kawasaki or suzuki there is no guarantee i will find a good dealership....any thoughts on how to find a good dealership? other than hanging around the service center and asking customers i don't know how to find a good dealership..thanks in advance

asking around on public message boards is a good start. About where are you in NJ? I'm sure there has to be another dealer in the surrounding area that would be more than willing to treat you right.

Just for instance.....here in central PA I have 3 "local" dealers around me. Dealer 1 & 2 I would gladly give a thumbs up, while the 3rd I would avoid like the plague. The kicker is that the 3rd is the big fancy large square footage type of shop. 1 is a medium sized shop with an excellent sales and service staff, and 2 is a small UJM dealer that sells BMW's out the side door at great prices.

Host a tech day and learn how to do the work your self.

Gotta DIY. Mail order, Clymer Manual and a little determination will get around any dealership. I would not even consider a BMW if I had to rely on a dealer. I now own my first BMW and it is the first bike I have not taken to a dealership for any reason.

Thanks for the tips. I expect to have to move back to New Castle, DE at some point, and Lititz isn't too far away. Delaware seems to be HD country, without a single BMW dealer (not that I would expect a state that size to be able to support more than one).

Are you saying you tried both NJ dealers; the one in Cherry Hill area (no experience with them) and Cross Country in Metuchen which is probably the next closest to you and had bad experience with both of them? We dealt with both and had good experiences with both. Steve at Touch of Class always worked on my RT.....I was always very pleased. Touch of Class in Phillipsburg is no longer a certified BMW dealership but I'll bet Steve will work on your bike and Cross Country has a good reputation. Alas, these two are not very close to you which is sadly becoming more and more common around the country with BMW dealerships.

Amazing the number of folks that feel the way you & I do. I finally had enough & did something about it by putting my money where my mouth is. I've switched to a Triumph and am not looking back.

my next bike will be a triumph tiger with abs

Just as a shameless plug for a dealer I like.......it might be worth a road trip to Hermy's in Port Clinton, PA. They are an awesome dealer that does Triumph AND BMW

agree with hermy's, was there last weekend when they had a 25% off sale on everything in stock! (except bikes of course) but they do wheel and deal so you could probably get one at a fair discount. Have similar feelings about the dealers in NJ...i could say i had some good service from CRoss country, but they are expensive..TOC does still fix bmw bikes just had a friend there get his final drive repaired and he warrantied the work there for 2 years. Don't know anything about the dealer in Cherry Hill. I know there is also a private guy who fixes bikes in Howell, NJ...the jersey shore riders use him often. He bought all the equipment from Garden state bmw when they went out of business and hear he does quality work.
