Dan B.
Would you please advise me what BMW model the taller black plastic mirrors come from that I see placed on the switch housing mirror holes of the R1200RT. I usually see them put on as additional mirrors. Thanks... Link to comment
markgoodrich
K1200RS is the usual choice. I have them, but I ride two up almost all the time. Otherwise I would have probably just used the stock mirrors...take a little getting used to. I've got Suburban Machinery bar risers on my bike, and have noticed that the K bike mirror on the left must be adjusted "forward" (toward the front of the bike) as far as it will go to get a decent view to the rear, and requires very frequent adjustment. I'm going to remove the risers this week and ride for awhile without them. Link to comment

Those are the oblong shaped mirror heads with the slotted stems (kind of racy looking).. They fit the R1200RT handlebar switch housings perfectly.. Here are the parts required & the price from Chicago BMW (20% off list),, doesn’t include shipping 2 Special nuts__ 51162328287 = $14.40 2 Wave washers__ 51162309607 = $2.40 1 R/H mirror__ 51167653774 = $52.00 1 L/H mirror__ 51167653773 = $49.60 Twisty Link to comment
Dan B.
Funny you should mention the risers. I just put a set of risers (up/back) on my new 08 RT. The stock mirrors are OK, I even put some of those little round adjustable wide view stick on mirrors on the stock set. It does OK also, however I have seen quite a few RT's with the additional mirrors, so I figured there must be a good reason. I guess I have always been more comfortable with mirrors that sit closer to my eyes so I don't have to concentrate so much on the farther away mirror that I loose track of what is in front of me in heavy traffic.
