Grip Puppies

When I ride my 2005 1150RT more than 300 miles in a day, the palms of my hands are sore. I try really hard to lightly grip and I use a big dose of Throttlemeister most of the time. I ordered a pair of grip puppies and installed them last week. I have ridden with them a couple of times on short runs, but they just seem to add too much bulk to the grip and the heated grips really have to be on high to get through the mass. They seem like a well made product, and they are soft, but just don't work for me.

Any other ideas?

My heated grips function pretty much normally, even with the Grip Puppies. They do take longer to heat up, but they still seem to heat up just the same.

You must have some serious vibes going on there to leave your hands that sore; or maybe it's the gloves. Have you tried a few different pairs of gloves?

It's been discussed many times but you need to rethink the way you ride a motorcycle.

Read or re-read the Master Yoda's Riding Position or MYRP

I will even give you a direct link HERE .

Well, I wasn't going straight there, but yep -- you're probably right.

I don't think it is the way I ride, as have been riding 40+ years and this is the only bike I have that issue with. I own 2 other BMW bikes currently as well as a 100th Anniversary Dyna WideGlide...No issue there either.

I had the same problem, though I really like the Puppies. It went away after a valve adjustment/ TB sync. If your bike is killing your hands, the problem probably isn't in the grips.

A previous thread last spring extolled the virtues of Grip Puppies. So, I decided to get a set. They arrived quickly, were easy to install, and were reasonably priced. (No connection to the company, here.) I'm glad I did. My R1200RT had very little "feelable" vibration before the grips, and even less now. As stated by others, it does seem to take longer for the heated grips to reach maximum temperature, but they do get there. For the cost, I'd recommend them to anyone and everyone. If not liked, just cut 'em off.
