KER
we have an '03 1150rtp and the abs warning lights are alternating back and forth at "1 Hz". the diagnostic chart i have says something about not finishing the start-up test. has anyone had this issue with their bike, and if so what was the fix? Boffin
Is your brakelight on? This symptom is usually caused by a stuck brakelight switch. First off, try pushing the front brake lever forward - there is a tendency for the master cylinders to weep slightly, leading to a build-up of gunk under the rubber boot. Eventually this can stop the lever returning fully. It is also possible for a small pebble, or road gunk, to lodge in the rear brake switch jamming it on. ANdy Link to comment

Ker, if you find the problem doesn’t go away with something easy like a stuck switch.. You might need to look into it a little farther.. If both the General & the ABS light are flashing alternately at 1Hz that usually points to low fluid level in Intergral ABS reservoirs,, or very low system voltage.. First try charging the battery & see if that clears up the ABS warning light problem.. If a battery charge doesn’t help & you are sure your battery & system voltage is up to snuff then probably remove the Tupperware,, remove the seat,, & remove the fuel tank,, then check the brake fluid level in the ABS controller reservoirs.. More info can help us here also.. KER
some more information: the brake lights/switches are all functioning correctly. the brakes initialize and work correctly. abs function still works (so I've been told) this is a company bike and i don't ride it so I've just going off of what i know/been told. The lights have been on for months now, however the battery in the bike is shot so it could be that the voltage is low. I don't think its the low fluid warning because my old bike did that once and it only lit the warning light and it was solid. This one is alternating the abs and warning lights so it is something different. We are replacing the battery today or tomorrow so we will see if that fixes the issue. Link to comment
philbytx
If the battery is shot...definitely buy a new battery! There's a recent thread on new battery purchases...... Link to comment
gthorpe
Sounds like the problem I have (see my thread from last week). The alternating 1Hz Brake Fail / Hazard lights started after bleeding my brakes. I just installed a new AGM battery & still have the problem. Fluid in the both reservoirs is topped off. Both level sensors apprear to work (indicate closed circuit). So, my next step is to carefully inspect for a loose wire in the level sensor harness, maybe I pulled it to hard during the bleeding procedure. If still no solution then I'll take it in to the dealer to see if they can diagnose it. Link to comment
