rglassma Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Can someone tell me if I have to remove all the side panels to change the secondary spark plugs??? If not, is there some trick to getting far enough in to do the replacement?
Limecreek Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Just remove the fairings--it takes no more than 5 minutes a side max....and yes you need to remove them.
flyingreg Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 What makes you believe you need to replace the bottom plugs?
RoadJunkie Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Conventional spark plug wrenches are too thick and don't quit3e reach the deep-seated plugs on the RT. You may want to save yourself some trouble by buying this: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=91705
rglassma Posted November 19, 2008 Author Posted November 19, 2008 I actually did that on Sunday... Picked it up at Harbor Freight when I was there. Works like a charm... Got the second set of plugs done today. Second time I have taken the right side off and the first time I did the left side. The plugs went in without a problem.. Now all i'll have to do is sync the throttle bodies and adjust the valves in a little over 1.5K miles. Any instructions out there on how to sync the bodies? Adjustments, etc.. for an R1200RT?
RoadJunkie Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 You probably know this, but in your message the sequence is out of order. Adjust the valves prior to TB sync. Good luck!
