knight88
This morning under my bike ('02 1150RT) I had a puddle of tan colored oil about a cup that came from one of the vent hose, it is not engine oil, or brake fluid it kind of smells like gear oil, but can't tell. Went for a ride and put the bike back on the center stand and an hour later I had another puddle of the same oil like stuff, but much less. Does the gear case have a vent? I know one is for the brake, engine oil, but don't know what the other vent hoses are. I keep the bike on the center stand, and it seems to happen only after a ride, once I wipe it up it doesn't show up again Link to comment
Rich06FJR1300
just grasping at straws here. Could it be motor oil? i know oil does vent back to the airbox and could leak out, but dont' think there's a hose there to let it lake onto the ground. Sure its from a vent hose? THe only ones i remember were from the battery (sold the RT awhile ago). Link to comment

effexer1
It probably is motor oil. I overfilled my engine once, and the excess blows out into the air box, and there is a drain hose on the air box, which lets the oil drip down on the converter or exhaust pipe. Did you recently change your oil, or add some? Link to comment
Sam Taylor
Are you sure it's not brake fluid? Two of those vent hoses vent the brake fluid reservoirs on the ABS unit. Tan colored would be about right for aging fluid. Link to comment

One hose vents the ABS reservoir (the front and back Y together above the ABS unit), one vents the battery (if still equipped with an open vent battery) and one is the water drain for the fuel tank filler neck rim. I checked in the air box and it had a bunch in there that looked and smelled the same as what was coming out. I guess the dealer overfilled it, thanks guys! Link to comment
