Epoxy Solder

I want to repair my MP3 player's audio output connector. I can see where the electrical connection has separated at the solder joint but it's not in an area where a soldering gun tip can reach. Has anyone used this or other epoxy solder. The one I saw is:

I guess in theory it would work. If you can get and keep it only where it needs to be.

But to me it kinds of begs the question, if you can get that big ol' applicator in where is needed, why couldn't you get a fine point soldering pencil there?

Have you taken the board out so you can see the back,,All your solder joints are on the back of the board,,I have repaired a lot of XM units for this,,,Like Ken said,You need a small soldering pencil to do the job.

Trust me there is no other way. One of my several careers was electronics tech on through hole and surface mount technology. I might go so far as to say the connector was born in it's position. Anyway the epoxy solder is 25 dollars plus shipping, all I need is a small drop, and a reconditioned MP3 of the same model is 50 dollars. Wife says get the reconditioned.

You can get the epoxy in there but not a fine pencil soldering tip? Seems like if one is possible the other should be. And if the epoxy solder is $25 and an entire refurb unit is $50 I think getting the refurb unit is the way to go. If the epoxy solder attempt fails then you will just be out another $25 with nothing to show for it, and you can always use the original unit for spare parts somewhere down the line.

As far as being 'born that way', it probably was. It was most likely assembled in a wave soldering machine and no one ever soldered the jack in place as a separate operation.
