Texas riders up for ride to Fort Davis?

Checking to see if any Texas riders are interested in a ride to Fort Davis in West Texas Nov. 21-23. I'm in Central Texas and Fort Davis is 435 miles West of here. I figure a day's ride there, a day to tour, and a day's ride home. There appears to be plenty of motel accommodations. McDonalds Observatory is near Fort Davis.

We're headed out there in early December, using Marfa as a base.

Are you taking I10 out there and/or the pretty way down to Del Rio then taking 90 West?

 

If you are visiting the MacDonald Obs for an afternoon visit or a Star Night, stay at the Indian Lodge in FD State Park...it's just down the road . Call first to check availability, if not the Hotel Limpia is neat. Go to the General Store for breakfast Mmmmmm.

 

If you go I10 there and the 90/377 etc. etc. way back, check out the Historic Holland Hotel in Alpine. It has a Brew Pub and German restaurant in it .

 

Quick ride there on 10....a day's ride back on 90/377.

It is a great place to ride. I was out there in Feb. of 2007 I think.

The Two Wheeled Texans(www.twtex.com) pie run that happens usually the last Saturday of every month. People from all over the state converge on an eatery that has been scouted out for it's Pie.
