Schuberth C3 flip up helmet

Great, Just what I need another helmet I can't get parts for! I already have a C2 and the hinge is floppy (won't remain up without falling down) I need the plastic tabs with the notches so my flip shield will stay up! Since there is no Schuberth distributor in North America, the world's greatest helmet is useless!

Hi Guys

Quick question. is there a reason BMW system 5 is never discussed in USA. Is it available. I have one and love it. Absolutely fantastic fit and comfort and ease of use. Very quiet on a R 1200 RTSE.

Or is it not DOT approved in the states?

best regards

BMW helmets are made by Schuberth and Schuberth do not sell helmets in the USA due to liability issues.

Well, not entirely true, the C2 and the S1 were sold here after they got DOT certified but I think they lost their distributorship.

I have a silver C2 sized small that is barely used if you want to buy it for use or parts, and a couple of C1's that are well used, they would need to be parted out as the exchangeble liners have deteriorated. if interested pm me.

It would appear that one could order a C3 from this company, for example, among others.

Has anyone tried ordering from a company in the UK, and is it a hassle? Is the conversion from pounds to dollars done automatically by your credit card company?

I don't know if I want to do this. It's pretty expensive to buy sight unseen. But I do seem to have a compulsion to try out every new helmet that comes out, and since there is a worldwide recession, I feel that I should do my part.

If you're lucky and they will ship is a 700 US dollar (after shipping and their sale price) helmet really that desirable?

Weak $US hurts the deal but some people will spend $20K+ for a motorcycle so I would imagine it is worth it to someone with enough money or if it ranks high enough in their priority.

Helmstudio in hamburg might be a possibility. When I was there last year they said they could ship worldwide. http://www.helmstudio-hamburg.de/schuberth_helme.html

other possible sources in Germany are louis.de and polo-motorad.de - I've been to both of these shops as well and they carry Schuberth, and just about everything else you'd ever want for motorcycle clothing - unreal compared to stores we have here in the US, even the bigger ones.

Yup. One could purchase a 30k bike like a Road King SE and pick up a 20 dollar beanie brain bucket. Priorities indeed.

The UK pound is currently weaker than the US Dollar - down to 1.5 dollars to the pound compared to 2 to the pound a few months ago.

Interesting: Pinlock is the standard visor. NICE!

The white one is cheaper, at *only* 386 pounds.

I wonder if it's better suited for the Autocom than the C2 was. The C2 was a real bear to set up.

I have ordered parts for my Schuberth from motshop.de in the past. Give them a try, I had no problems with them.

It is claimed to be the quietest flip-up manufactured today... I am really looking at trying one myself.

As for getting parts from Europe, I am always willing to mediate if at all possible. I buy from Louis.de and from local stores and dealerships myself as well.

These guys will beat that price for any colour.

To give you a rough idea shipping to the CA area was £55 give or take. The downside is if it doesn't fit you will have to fork out for the return to the UK. I can say the sizing is the same as the C2.

I have the C3 and I love it.

Mention 'Jim' from Tooting (yes it's a real place) if you do go for it and you will get the price reduction above.

It is, infact it would appear either Autocom or Schuberth have made it easier by design, as the cut outs to fit the Autocom speaker shape, and they are almost flush, about 1/4" protrusion at the most.

Anyone know what head shape does the C3 fit best? I bought a Fulmer Modus(if that helps) before I bought my bike and had hoped to replace it when I knew better. But there are too many choices.

I just bought a Schuberth R1 from fc-moto.de in Germany. It was cheap, shipping was quick, and, it appears they also carry the C3.

Make sure you go through the whole process to figure cost. When you login, they knock price down, then you get the VAT reduction. My R1 was $419 SHIPPED!

BMW helmets are not sold in the US. I have a System 5 and love it, but I bought it in Munich and carried it back with me.
