scaudy
My ABS pump is in need of replacement and the dealer quote came in at 2,300 for the pump and 700 for labor. I have checked ebay and beemerboneyard and have not been able to locate a used unit. Anyone have a woking spare they don't need or know where I can pick one up at a good price? thanks for any help. Rich06FJR1300
there is a dealer in canada that sells them frequently. Just keep your eyes peeled. You can definitely get one, just a matter of getting one when its available (i did for my 2002 RT). BTW, how many miles before it quit? Link to comment
scaudy
Thanks for the info. Does the dealer Canada sell them on ebay or where? I have about 44k on it. The front brakes are still working so it looks like it just failed on the rear. I am just not sure I want to ride it and have the front fail when I am in traffic. I almost traded it off about 6 months ago. Should have listened to myself. This is the best time of year to ride in SoCal so I am missing it. Link to comment
halfbreed
http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38.l1313&_nkw=bmw+r1100s+abs+modulator&_sacat=See-All-Categories Here is a unit for an R1100s. Someone here should be able to let you know if it will fit. Link to comment
Rich06FJR1300
44k huh? mine failed at that same mileage! The dealer sells them on ebay. THey take them off the older RT-P bikes as the cops like the partially integrated version rather than the fully integrated one. Link to comment
Rich06FJR1300
can't see how you can't use that model on the 1100S, but i'm not 100% on it. Link to comment
ShovelStrokeEd
Be patient, they do show up from time to time. I would contact Beemer Boneyard and get on a waiting list with them. Meantime, it is a fairly trivial matter to plumb around the entire thing. To do it right, you should really replace the rear master cylinder but, if you can live with a slightly less powerful rear brake (maybe a good thing?), you can just pick up a couple of lines and a junction block for the front and have a bike to ride just no ABS. RT Russ
Whizzy brakes suck! Just my humble opinion. My 02 RT has an intermittent failure of the ABS modulator. Dealer quoted near $3000 for parts and labor. I called BMW USA and asked for help since I had just turned over 12k miles when the problem started. They got the dealer to give me a slight discount. I am scheduled for the work on 11/7. I am pretty disappointed in BMW and their lack of real support on an obviously under engineered system but hopefully this will be the only major issue with the bike. I have been on BeemerBoneYard's waiting list for over a month with no luck as of yet. Good luck with your search. Link to comment
