FD Swaps

Does anyone know whether you can swap a R1100 FD with a R1150?

I have a 2004 R1150 RTP with the 32/11 FD and I would like to replace it with a 1999 R1100 31/11 FD?

You need to check to see if the RTP is the same, it might not be but I put a FD from the R1100R on my R1150RS. The one I bought was 3.0 (33/11) to replace the 31/11 on my R1150RS. I bought the one for the R1100R with ABS which has the hole for the abs sensor (unit was new when I bought it, not used). It was a direct bolt in operation, no modifications needed.

there is a write up on how to swap it here

Thanks to everyone for the info. Did the 31/11 to 33/11 make a big difference?

I am mainly trying to get taller gears for my 2004 R1150 RT.

I guess the swap from brake disc on the wheel to brake disc on the FD is no problem?

The 3.0 FD makes it so the engine spins faster for a given speed. 6th gear with stock FD for me was not very useful since the engine was lugging most of the time unless I wanted to risk my driver's license. the 3.0 cured that but you still have a large gap between 5 and 6. Also, first gear launches from a stop are much easier with the 3.0. It was the best mod I did to my R1150RS.

On my RS the brake disk remains on the wheel with either FD, I did not have to swap anything over.
